If you could design the next Elder Scrolls

If you had complete liberty to design the next Elder Scrolls game how would you do it?

I would combine all of the good things from Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion.

I would ask Rhekarid to post his "How I would make TES5.rtf", but that's much too large for the forum.

If I were designing it that's what I'd do, but I wouldn't have to ask myself, thus saving people precious seconds in spending the rest of their lives reading it.

Oh, but you're far too humble. Why, it could take generations of people to read it.

Where might Rhekarid's ESV list be?

Somewhere between the beginning of time and Armageddon.

It really is that long.

But seriously, I had to email him for it, and my version is certainly very very very out of date at this point. But it still covers a great deal enough to be useful in conversation.

I would hand everything back over to Bethesda and let them create the game. It wouldn't be right for anyone else to create it, and I definitely can't create any game.

I'd ask Todd Howard what he did for TES:III, and work from there.

Uhh, I really REALLY hope you never work at any game developing business.
Mount and Fail is such a terrible game.

And Cryengine :whistling:

I have recently been enlightened about this from a certain person who I now love that they should not use a pre-made engine such as Cryengine or Tech 5 because they are pretty much modding Gamebryo to become their own engine anyway.

Some of the game was terrible.

Certain aspects were incredible and original, especially considering it was basically developed from the ground up by two people in turkey.
Once you accept its flaws, it was an amazing and unique experience.

Just curious, what in particular did you think made it soooo terrible? I'll be sure not to include it in my imaginary TES V. :violin:

1. Hire the current Bethesda team
2. Require the game to have 1000m^2 in game. All of Tamriel is accesible.
3. ????
4. Profit!

I downloaded and played it a few years ago, gameplay was completely terrible, the UI was atrocious, the general feel of the game was like a incomplete TES Construction set made by a 12 year old with much worse graphics. Just really really bad game.

You would all have grand ambitions to bring all the good things from Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion into TESV, and then discover that it is no where near as easy as it sounds on paper. Maybe some of the good things would be brought in, but overall, I'd say it would have some seriously flawed execution. I mean no offence, but I agree with Seti18; I wouldn't trust any of you with directing an ES game. And obviously that includes myself.

If I were making the game I would have had it out by now, or at least told people I was working on it. For those interested, I am not working on it.

Why would that be a good thing? It would be better to take more time on it, surely?

If i were to design the next Elder Scrolls and unlimited money, i'd make the whole of Tamriel available, not just a province.

Seriously tho, if i were to design the next Elder Scrolls, i'd make the game alot easier and accessible
for modders to mod. The whole game architecture will be open for all to muck around with.

I'd even provide a dedicated help forum manned by the development team for modders to chat with should they require assistance.
After all, we cannot forget the talented modders, who with their fantastic mods make an already good game, even better.

My 2 Cents.

Gameplay was excellent, but the learning curve was ridiculous. I almost made the assumption you made but decided to stick it out. It does have terrible graphics and production values in general, but once you get rolling, the mash-up of RPG and total war style strategy was awesome. It's the only game I've ever played with working mounted combat by the way.
