At the very most hardcoe mode and that's it

This. Everything else that Fallout 3 and New Vegas had, Skyrim should be able to do it to a better degree that it won't be recognizable.

The lockpick mini game from Fallouts 3 and New Vegas is the only thing that I would want put into Skyrim.

Either hardcoe mode or the ability to cripple limbs (IIRC that wasn't in the last TES, but I haven't played it in a while...).

I just can't stand the idea of having anything from Fallout, aside from maybe hardcoe Mode, in an Elder Scrolls game. I love both titles very dearly, but it is essential they remain seperate and unique.

Agreed. I have read all the replies and yours is the best so far. They are 2 games seperated by years and years.Oh NO DANG VATS.

The speech system.

hardcoe too of course but since people have wanted that before New Vegas came out I don't see it as a Fallout feature.

Choices.

And a hardcoe mode if it can be implemented properly.

Edit: Speech system too. I don't see how anyone could be against an actual worthwhile speech system.

i will never tolerate experience points and skill pools in TES. one of the reasons i got into the game in the first place was how much the leveling system reminded me of Quest for Glory - going to something like what Fallout 3 had (which was intrusive as [censored] and irritating and antiquated and seriously how can you people prefer this stuff do you really have to powergame in every thing you play) would completely end this series for me.

the only thing i want from Fallout is a reason to explore the world. places with stories, on paper and in setpieces. interesting one-of-a-kind loot hand-placed in dungeons.

locational damage would be neat too :3

You know, I would definitely have experience points. Increasing skills by use is ok, but I always had trouble increasing magic skills. Very tedious.

In fact, I had trouble with all non-combat skills.

skill-relaed dialogue.
Instead of playing speech minigame, I can go "You really should trust me to save your daughter's life from that disease. Expert in Alchemy, baby." Or instead of bribing my way to knowledge, I can be "[DB Assassin] Sithis demands answers".

Now my mage that has skills in alchemy, mysticisim, illusion, and alteration can't possibly keep up with the monsters in the world.

Only because of the person playing him/her. Poison is one of the most effective ways to deal damage in the game. So is reflect damage (mysticism) which also keeps you safe as a bonus. Illusion can get monsters fighting each other or just help you avoid them altogether. Alteration's the only one that could potentially give you damage (it's also pretty worthless).

I do miss VATS, but I think hardcoe mode would fit nicely in TES series. I can just picture having to hunt those deer for food.

Dialogue, where your PC actually talks to the NPC.

This, for me. Most importantly, you should be able to pick between several options for dialogue to fit your character. This is an aspect of role playing that has always been absent from TES games. Skill related dialogue would be nice, too. The Oblivion mod "Integration: The Stranded Light" included a lot of skill related dialogue, and it worked wonderfully.

Put children in the game... it just looks weird with only advlts. A hardcoe mode would be pretty cool too.

Not VATS as it was implemented, but I would like the ability as an archer to target specific body parts on an opponent, with some indication of my chance of success with the shot. VATS is very "technical" in the implementation and that wouldn't fit in a D&D-like world, but the overall ability to target body parts and see it unfold in the death-cam is Awesome IMHO.

Perks. Oblivion had different skill bonuses when you advanced in tier (like the ability to jump off the surface of water as a master of acrobatics), which was nice, but the choice between three or four skill related "perks" for each tier would be a welcome addition.

Speech
. The speech system, especially as it was implemented in New Vegas, was spectacular. Mini-games are fine, but not when they are a stand-in for good writing and branching dialog.

Repair
. The idea of the player carrying a satchel of hammers everywhere they go is a bit silly. Repairs being made at workbenches (Anvils in the TES setting) and and requiring a duplicate item to perform (like in F3 and NV) just makes good sense. Also, I think one of the top tier skill bonuses for repair should essentially be a "Jury Rigging" rip off, allowing the player to repair their gear with similar items within a weapon/armor type.

VATS. Once a character has reached a certain tier of proficiency with a weapon type of school of magic, it only makes sense that they would be able to enter a focused state of mind and execute a VATS-styled queue of attacks. As long as the interface was overhauled, I don't really see it hurting anything.

Limb damage. Could be very useful for Archers.

Archery could certainly use some work. It seems like a terrible waste of all the improvements in ranged combat from Oblivion to New Vegas not to incorporate at least some of those systems.

I'd like to find the fabled "Book of Armaments", that Brother Maynard carries.
(not technically in Fallout, but its assumed)

Nothing. I think they way they made Oblivion is a thousand times superior to Fallout in every way. I prefer Oblivion leveling, minigame, skill, repair, character development, speech, skill use, and combat systems over the ones in Fallout by far.
