I couldn't fit the whole of the question in the title, but I am wondering if you are wanting to reserve a name for your character and just make a quick char with the name you want and then delete them later when you are ready to make your character for real, is the name useable right away again?

The reason I ask is because, some games I've played, if you delete the char, the name you used on it is not available for use immediately, like its pending or something.

If it's not reusable instantly it should only take a few minutes. At least that's how it was for some in the beta.

I deleted and rerolled and by the time I redesigned my character at any rate I could re-use my name.

Hmm, must have been a popular name... unless the server didn't release the name yet since you had just deleted your other char.

I was usually able to delete a character and immideately create a new one with the same name in the betas.

I did just that in beta a couple of times as well - deleted a character and made another with the same name - and there was no problems.

I've never had difficulty re-creating a character with the same name, but I tend to spend a little time with sliders so it may take a little time to release a previously re-used name. I've also no idea whether the time to release a name for re-use by the same player is the same or different from the time to release it for use by a different player. None of my names has ever been taken when I tried to reassign it, but I use "lore" names, not names an MMO player is likely to think "cool."
