You don't really need gun nut...

Yes, you can find mods for weapons before you can craft them. This is true. However, to counter that, you're waiting on RNG to give you the mods you need. That 10mm Suppressor you're trying to get? You may get one very quickly, or you could end up not getting one until level 50. That's RNG for you. The crafting perks, on the other hand, ensure that you can get the mods you want by crafting them, which eliminates the RNG element, and also ensures that your weapon of choice is steadily increasing in power. The drawback is that you have to wait longer to get the better mods.

Yea, but being I am a gun nut in RL, this perk is a must.

Besides, I dont' like relying on random luck to stumble across weapon mods.

Bang.

No, both same gun types I think. I don't have the perk to craft it unlocked so if that's the reason then it would mean not upgrading and finding the parts wouldn't work

Haha. Yeah, you don't really need it if you are patient enough to scrounge for mods.

I got Gun Nut 2 just to craft a Suppressor for my 10mm, and the VERY next box I open has a Silenced 10mm pistol in it. Very funny game.

Agreed. There should be a Scrap or Breakdown option. Course it doesn't take long to stockpile a dozen mods for any part of the gun. I've got more pipe-gun mods than you can shake a stick at. ... ... (wonder if I can sell them).

I'm building mods MOSTLY before I find them, but I find weapons that have SOME mods I can't build yet. I'm watching RadBrad play just ahead of me on YouTube. He's a mostly gun gamer who isn't really tuned into crafting so he relies on only what he finds. He can take on baddies I'd have trouble with even though I'm higher level because of skill, but his actual weapons are worse than I could make now. I think gun nut is worth it. And science too. Plus even people not doing gun nut will end up moving those mods they find slowly because of that fact that a given mod won't move to a different kind of gun. A long scope should move almost anywhere but doesn't.

You do need those perks in order to fully develop a settlement though.
