You dont need to sleep to level up?

You should totally put in a I don't care option because I totally don't care about how they are making us level up.

Does anybody else do this? No? Everybody wants to play as an awesome hero? Well, that's strange.

/sarcasm

Actually, alot of people do that, its called roleplaying.

The only reason you had to sleep to level up before is to get your attribute multipliers up, that isn't neccessary in Skyrim. In addition, the idea that you level up because you are thinking about what you've done while resting would make sense if you gained skills through levelling up not attributes.

You can still prretend, and just sleep every time you level up. I mean, finding a bed in oblivion was bout as hard as killing a hobo.

Let us hope that Beth takes a card from Fallout NV and includes a 'hardcoe' or 'survival' mode that brings back sleeping to level, among other things...

I voted no. It's not a major thing, but something I'm used to and quite like. The whole "sleep to reflect and grow" makes sense as that's how people actually work. Just getting it in Fallout felt a bit awkward (although it fit more in that world).

I agree. Instant-leveling is effective and more comfortable, but this whole "Unique" system where you had to sleep to level up, by reflecting on the things the you did, it felt right and like Daiyus said, I'm used to it, and I like it. :) I also voted no, but I'm still going to enjoy Skyrim.

"You realize that all your life you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have come alive."

...how now are we going to to rest and meditate on what we have learned??

I need a "dont care" option.. also the "staying at lvl 1" desire you had came from oblivions horrid level scaling.

The only reason not having to sleep in a bed to level up would bother me is if it decides to level you in the middle of an intense battle. That almost happens in FNV and it's just jarring. Your heart is pumping fast because you're trying to survive 3 deathclaws and the drums sound off for the level up. It does wait until the battle ends to go to the screen but I'm usually not in 'skill point allocating mode' that quickly. At least if you had to find a bed, it would be a time of your own choosing. I'm not going to be upset about it though; I'll just deal.

Yes, I think you're right. That's why I had to decide to just deal with it. When the level-up screen hits, I can get a drink in the kitchen and think about what Perk I might take. :)

well I wont.. since theres no option for me. But in this case a "dont care" option is fact in use, to see how many people dont care.. its not like a "which do you prefer" poll where choosing one is the only useable answer. "Don't care" is as much a valid answer to how much I like a certain change as "I love it!" is.

I dont see this as a huge issue, I kind of liked the "Meditate on what you learned". You dont have to pick perks at least you know, you can stock pile them.

i liked staying at lowish levels in oblivion because i found it stupid when every bandit or marauder had glass or daedric armor.

I'm almost certain it's been confirmed that that won't be an issue any more. :foodndrink: Good thing too!

Really? ....really?

First of all, it has been confirmed that the creature-and-loot-leveling system is far more like Fallout 3's was than Oblivion's, so your whole reason for not leveling up is rendered moot anyway. You will still be capable of coming across high-leveled, difficult enemies at level 1, just as you will be able to come across low-leveled, easy enemies at level 25.

Also, if you're putting so much effort into roleplaying, wouldn't this actually...make it more realistic? In reality, a herb gatherer would have to face the dangers of going out in the wild to go about his or her profession, including facing the potential risk of encountering something far outside their ability to combat. It sounds to me more like you want an easier experience rather than a better roleplaying experience.

This is some of the best news I have heard! This is how it should have been in Oblivion and I am so glad it comes back in Skyrim. I can't explain it really... I will enjoy the game more this way, don't really know why.

Not that I really care, but it was something that kinda distinguished TES from other RPGs, and with addition of the perk trees it already has too much common elements. I voted no, so I'm not happy, but I'm okay with it
