Do you drink from plastic, glass, or metal?

Glass, as the gods of beer and scotch intended.

Liquids tend to resonate their temperature better with glass and metal than plastic. I personally prefer glass. Metal feels too sterile and surgical to me.

Ceremic. They feel sturdier than glass, and i'll be able to drink hot stuff without fearing that the plastic might melt and poison me horribly over decades or something.

For classy stuff i would prefer glasses though.

Metal cups just remind me of some kind of army canteen from the movies.

Any old receptacle will do depending where I am and what I'm doing, really doesn't bother me what it's made of.

I drink from glass whenever I can but most of the time it's plastic, sometimes I have cans of whatever.

Yes, I find this a completely horrifying thought. Not least as it reminds me of the awful vending machines at work whose coffee was scorched and flavoured with cleaning fluid. I suppose the nasty, flimsy plastic cup was the appropriate receptacle.

I use glasses for beer, water, pop etc and ceramic mugs for tea and coffee. Occasionally I'll use a pewter tankard if I'm in a silly mood and think I haven't dribbled anything on my blouse in too long. My gf drinks everything from glass mugs, including hot drinks. She's a bit odd like that.

Glass is capital, but I am not rich so I usually stick to plastic or cans

Glass and stainless steel.

Plastic is bad, M'kay.

I believe plastic leaches crap (chemicals) and use it as little as possible where food and drink is concerned. All my food storage containers are glass, with plastic lids.

But depending on the kind of plastic, it probably won't degrade, which is bad for the environment. And killing the cockroaches are goodfor you, not so much the environment. Yet, if their remains get put out in the garden, it could help fertilize/build soil structure..which is good. If their still in the cup and thus the landfill, then it'll take much longer for them to go through their circle of life.

But, if you're looking for a good cockroach trap, my old barracks mate would leave his spit cans out. Great traps - if not a bit disgusting.

break

I drink mostly out of metal, plastic, and glass. Pretty interchagable. Metal = soda cans or my canteen cup. Plastic = sports bottles or cups. Glass = breakfast, dinner, and milkshakes ;) I guess I should probably drink out of glass more often, but I'm on the go quite often. Once in a while I'll drink out of paper and/or wood.

Horn

Clearly you underestimate the Solo plastic cup, watch this small vid which just demonstrates a couple of its uses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw5CXl2jLh4

Can your glass cups accurately measure alcohol levels, keep pitchers of beer cold or amplify music from your phone? No they cannot :P

I think plastic cups remind me of social gatherings, and accidentally spilling sticky fluids all over yourself because the cup is made of plastic and not something solid. I also have a habit out of squeezing the plastic cups so that they break and become sharp so that I cut myself on them. They're just objectively bad.

Yeah, I use glasses and mugs the same way you do, although I drink tea from a pint glass because my father always did that. Pretty weird but I just can't abandon that habit.

Hmm, I suppose it's not utter [censored], but it can't beat glasses, though. Of course I wouldn't hand out glasses if I ever hosted a party. Then the plebe cups must do.

That is odd as glass doesn't hold in the heat so she either drinks her drinks fast or at room temperature.

while it's a plastic knockoff of a proper drinking horn, it's probably much easier to clean and keep sanitary....a drinking horn is sanitized by hard alcohol being drank from it every so often :P

ha yea glass cups and parties are definitely a bad idea and I agree about preferring to drink from glass. Aluminum cans are horrible, when I drank beer and soda (stopped both), I preferred glass bottles or 2 liter sodas poured into glass cups.

I pre-heat mine with hot tap/boiling water first. It adds some time to the cooling effect.

Or one could freeze/cool it first for cold drinks.(I know, a PITA, but it works.)

Yeah, I don't like cans either and they make the drink taste more... metallic. Or maybe that's just me. Yeah, glass bottles are the way to go.

Same. I still remember to this day the "aluminum causes Alzheimer's disease" scare many years ago. If anything, I suspect it's more the plastic lining the cans that can have negative effects rather than the aluminum can itself. The only time the aluminum touches the liquid is if the plastic lining is scratched, or as it pours from the mouth of the can.

Frozen beer mugs are great, that pre-heating thing you do sounds bizarre...just get a proper ceramic/insulated mug :P

I have the same taste from cans so this tells me that it's not in my mind ha or perhaps it's our minds tricking our mouths in the same way :P

What's the difference? Other than one is hot the other cold. It makes sense to me.

I'm not sure why I haven't, but I should just use my coffee mug for tea to, but I don't.

I think it's because the way I make tea, using 3 teaspoons to make 1.25L's (Should be 4 for 1L) gives me exactly 5 equally filled beer mugs of tea. When I do the same ratio for coffee, using my vacuum sealed thermos mug, I get 3 mugs of coffee with a little left over. Plus, the tea smell really lingers, so having 2 different mugs keeps the smells/taste separate.

Yeah, I guess it's kinda weird thinking...
