Do you ever finish a questline boss in a special way?

Post » Tue Oct 07, 2014 5:59 pm

As in the power or attack you want to use when it's time to deliver the final blow.

Against Alduin I wanted it to feel really heroic, so I finished him with a sprinting attack wielding a greatsword.

Mercer's treachery should be answered with the most cruel death, so I soul trapped him and stored the black gem in a chest.

When killing the Emperor, I remembered Arnbjorn's words: "Make it bloody and spectacular". So I killed Mede with a biting attack in Vampire Lord form.

Commander Maro died by the Blade of Woe.

And so on.

I do it when it feels appropriate to the character and to the situation.

The mod that lets you tear out hearts has become a favorite of mine for particular important NPCs that have gotten on my character's bad side. Killed Ulfric that way once. That a good enough story for you, Ulfric, you son of a [censored]?

I want to use that mod sooo badly! Of the ones you mentioned, Njordr, I only took my time with Mercer Frey. I was surprised to learn how popular a punishment soultrap is for him. When I got to that fight I had the dwarven enhanced crossbow, and right as it started, I fired a really hardy paralysis/health damage poison and he went invisible, and then nothing. Turned out I'd hit him, and he was just lying in the water somewhere, invisible. I shot him again for good measure when I found him, then did him in with a blade. I used his soul to enchant a pair of shoes and sold them to that characters wife. Frey's soul is off getting stepped on somewhere.

I've killed many draugr death lord bosses while completely hidden and using a bow. totally suited my sneaky archer characters. :P

If I think they're deadly enough, like Mercer, I'll knock them down somehow.

If I think they're harmless, like Harkon, I'll just run around beating the crap outta them

Karstaag from a ledge with a Staff of Fireballs and The Eye of Melka, because My Mages are squishy and My Warriors dislike being sent into Orbit.

Alduin with Lightning, because I usually play Hybrids that use Destruction for a Ranged Attack.

Most Bosses in the Mages Guild Questline die by Electrocution, because of Storm Atronachs.

Tulius and Ulfric get beheaded, I do Save before the endings just for the Kill-cam.

I would like to say the Bosses in the Companions Questline get special treatment, but My Companion characters are usually lucky just to survive Boss encounters

The heartbreaker mod is epic for those finishes.

That mod is awesome! Heartbreaker - A Killmove is the name if I remember correctly.

I just wish there was some way to activate it without having to beat someone down, would suit my new character so well to rip someone heart out just for "fun"...

I do enjoy ironic deaths such as the decapitation of Tullius and the murder of Ulfric with the Thu'um.

EDIT: I also killed Elenwen with the Staff of Magnus. Lore nuts will understand why this is so amusing.

When playing a mage, I like to finish Alduin off with http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/577894100763348008/CB06933443D6CE55E87AB4AA0172C92A4E3EDB98/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/577894100763438205/D81BBC8FA18A582B7597C2ADBC771B33594662E8/ :disguise:

Very amusing. :D

If a kill-cam triggers as I kill a boss then that's great, but I don't go out of my way to do anything special.

Alduin always gets a running sprint attack from either Mehrune's Razor (lore nuts will also get this one) or Miraak's Sword.

Mercer, Necromancers, and Thalmor always gets soul trapped.

Sometimes I Thu'um Ulfric to death, but usually I deny his last request and let Tullius have the honor.

For the Emperor, I like to recreate Oblivion's opening and shank him with a Conjured Dagger.

And Grelod the Kind always gets the hand-to-hand kill cams. Every single one of them.

I've been using the Razor on Dragon Priests, but never on Alduin, assuming that he'd be immune to THAT particular effect, being the end boss and all...

Does it work on him?
