Do you expect something special for you in gaming in 2016?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 9:15 pm

Rockstar is going to be making an announcement about Red Dead 3, probably for an early-to-mid 2017 release.

SE releases the first episode of FF7 by the end of the year, but also creates a season pass for the entire game.

I don't believe they announced any release dates yet, but I have a feeling that at least the first part will be and it will be finished releasing by the end of 2017 (the 20th Anniversary of FF7).

I've learned not to expect anything from gaming, it works out best for both of us that way.

I am waiting patiently for "Firewatch." Which may, be because of Mad Men withdrawal symphtoms. Rich Somers voices it.

Did you know he's a gamer, boards mainly.

Well,

Persona 5 is one, though, knowing close to nothing about the actually game itself (as in the story) is kind of off-putting.

Having the GECK to make F4 better.

News on the new System shock is also something I look forward to.

Other than that....eh.

No. Not because I'm bitter and cynical (well, I am, but that's besides the point), I just have curbed expectations. There are a number of games I'm anticipating this year, like Dishonored 2, XCOM 2, Dark Souls III, The Last Guardian, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Persona 5, and Salt and Sanctuary, as well as expansions like Blood and Wine for The Witcher 3 and Shadows of Hong Kong for Shadowrun: Hong Kong (gee, what a very creative name). But will any of them, or anything at all this year, be special? No idea. Jury's still out if they're even going to be good.

After playing the DOOM alpha last month, I can't wait to play the entire game. I'm really hoping the multiplayer catches on unlike DOOM3.

There may possibly finally be some games that make me want to buy a PS4. (FF15, Ratchet & Clank, Nier 2)

(Or, I'll look at my backlog of PC games, and put it off even further)

I gotta take note of what all is coming out this year. As of right now... Torment: Tides of Numenera, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided...and getting the xpacs to Pillars of Eternity are on my list.

I'm hoping for FOE to be done in 2016 but that's just hopeful wishing. It probably won't be done til late 2017 or even 2018.

Otherwise, Fallout 4's DLCs pretty muchly. Though that new Doom game looks promising as well. But nothing seriously special I feel. Then again, I'm a little picky myself when it comes to what I'm interested in.

Rocket League, Cuphead, Gears 4 and possibly Far Cry Primal are what I'm mainly looking forward to. Couple of others I'll have to wait on reviews for.

If I had a ps4 I'd also be interested in Firewatch, Uncharted 4 and No Mans Sky. :(

There are couple of games in my backlog that I plan to focus on seeing as there currently isn't that much I'm interested in in 2016.

Not so much any games that jump out, but I'm looking forward to finally getting my hands on the Oculus Rift. Or, I was until I saw they in reased the price from an expected £300 to a whopping £500. May have to wait another year or two for the price to drop. Shame.

I am expecting an announcement on the next Elder Scrolls. At least some sort of teaser trailer.

I don't even need an announcement or a trailer, all I need is leaked or "leaked" infos ;) it's not like it's never happened before :hehe: This is the leaks I would be most excited about:

Bethesda Montreal is working on TES Adventures: Eye Of Argonia // or TESA: Redguard and Bethesda Maryland is working on TES VI: Black Marsh // or TES VI: Hammerfell. The adventure game, released 6-to-9 months before the next TES, will be a story-driven, fixed protagonist adventure that will set some lore and artistic lines of said province in a smaller but more detailed scale, and will drive the hype for TES VI like Fallout Shelter did for Fallout 4.

But of course this won't happen, so I will have to settle for Dishonored 2, Mass Effect 4, TWD: Michonne, Doom, the new Far Cry and other distractions.

Oh, and other sources of gaming related excitement for me would be buying a new monitor and Dishonored getting a proper collector's edition this time.

Well Six Ages (spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass and set in the same world) still says not to expect anything before late 2016 so theres hope but they've been saying that for a couple of years.

edit: they are still pre-Alpha so not much hope :nope:
