Do you experience many bugs in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:31 am

I'm constantly reading complaints about major bugs all over the forum but I never encountered a game breaking one in 110 hours of gameplay.

I noticed a few minor issues, here and there, nothing significant. I'm just wondering the ration of people affected by bugs and how does it relate to what we observe on the forums.

Well for me, the game keeps CTD'ing every 20+ minutes or so, I tried every trick listed in the book to deal with it, but It can't be helped I suppose, I'll just continue to monitor the patch notes.

Loads of them; all the time. I guarantee I'll still be experiencing them five years from now too. Fortunately, none of the bugs I've encountered have been game or quest breaking yet.

I haven't had any real issues at all, the game plays very smoothly on my system and no crashes at all, only a few minor moments of weirdness with textures ect.
I too wonder why so many people have troubles...me thinks its got to be hardware/driver problems?
I have a very budget system I built prior to the games release and by all accounts it performs better than most high dollar gaming systems that many folks claim to have. So I count myself as lucky.

AMD Athalon II x3 455 Rana
4 gigs of cheap 1333 ram (3.25 useable)
Geforce 550ti 1 gig video card with latest Nvidia drivers

Running on Win 7 32bit

Game runs like a charm.

edit...I should state that I have only completed a few quests, so I would agree that if there are broken quests they need to be fixed as thats a game breaking issue for most.

I had very few issues with the vanilla install. Had a few crashes, but they were far and few between, and ran into a few bugged quests/dungeons. After patch 1.1 I crashed all the time until I installed the skyrim4g utility over at the Nexus. Looks like 1.2 breaks Resistances, but I'm sure there will be a fix for this at the Nexus before 1.3 hits.

All in all I would say that the game would be in better shape if they had held off on patching the game.

I had a couple freezes but once you play long enough on 360 you get used to that sort of thing. The stuff that bothers me is the unfinishble quests (there's a lot of them). That's what I define as game breaking, because it has literally stopped me from completing objectives in the game. A little freezing and texture problems I don't mind - but the quests need to work.

I had one freeze in like 150 hours of gameplay on ps3. Now i've installed the patch i've had 4 freezes in a day. My brother has had even more than that since the patch and he's not even 40 hours in. My friend just got the game and is reporting the same. So pissed off

Only minor issues, nothing that has ever made me want to turn off the game. 160 hours in.

150+ hours of gameplay and very few bugs, none of them even close to game-breaking. Playing on the PC.

The only gamebreaking bug I encountered was the Esbern Door bug. But thankfully, there is a workaround for it.

All my other bugs are just annoyances like quest items that don't get transferred to the NPC in question, or still being labeled as quest items after the quest has concluded.

I mean, come on. Let me display that Runed Lexicon in my house. It looks dope D:

I have about 3 quests in my quest log which I can't complete because they're bugged... so yeah, I've ran into a few really game-breaking ones. Luckily none on the main quest, though. I feel for the people who can't complete the MQ because of bugs.

I have a bug that won't allow me to progress the Storm Cloak quests. I visited a dungeon early and the rubble that was in my way initially to avoid me getting through the dungeon won't go away now that I'm there on "official business". I also can't complete the Companions Questline because a quest giver isn't GIVING me a quest. So, not "game breaking" but pretty bad... I can be patient though. I can even finish the game with my current character and start another with the hopes that these bugs will have been taken care of by then. There's plenty of other things to do, I just wish that main quest lines like these hadn't gotten bugged. I really hope that they fix them soon.

Are there bugs that make the game unplayable? No. Does it still get choppy sometimes when roaming around in the wild? Yes. Is the voice acting not always in sync? Yes. Most players never encounter a game breaking bug. Most of the things people on this forum are complaining about are not big deals. It is a very small group of complainers making a whole lot of noise about nothing.

Yes, I've had some game breakers. markarth is now a no-go zone unless I drop the console and cheat.

nice dwelling decked out, nice gear stored there, thane etc etc etc..Guards stuck in a never ending loop.

-218 hours in.

Blood on the ice quest. Never knew about it until I did research/went on a bug hunt to find out what was up.

Very minor ones that don't detract from the game.. However, I am a bit nervous applying the 1.2 patch when I get home.

roughly 100 hours in on PS3 320 GB HD 1.1 patch only & around 9500kb save file... within first 5 hours had 1 freeze in Whiterun & 1 glitch where buildings in Ivarstead didn't render completely... since then no problems whatsoever... only lag is when sprinting through a town full of NPCs... so far only 2 bugged quests - Waking the Nightmare / Erondur dissappeared & Skald bounty still in journal

I'm freezing for up to 4 seconds at a time (over and over) as i run through the open ground, then i'll freeze permanently and have to hard shutdown and i can play any high end game with this computer setup. I have things in my bag that refuse to be stored or dropped whether i finish a quest or not. (some things like talos amulet of which i have 2 now plus strange books and i finished the quest). I'm going to have more weight in junk than i have in gear soon. When i go to store something in a chest or take something out, the chest suddenly snaps shut because i haven't lined the left hand side selection panel up perfectly (or it snaps shut anyway, just out of spite i guess). I keep getting npc's that were passing me when i enter a door, being svcked in with me. They keep finishing what they're saying then leave through the door. I've even had shop doors locked at 4pm or 10am and everyone else are business as usual on the street stalls. If i exit game then load again, the doors are open. Except for the freezing, it's all just weird or plain aggravating.

130 hours and no terrible bugs. Skyrim and FO:NV have been the most stable releases by a long shot for any BGS game (yeah, I know FO:NV was Obsidian, but it was built on BGS engine).

There are the typical bugs with physics, teleporting dragon bones, etc,, but those are minor, IMO. A couple of quests have glitched and one required console commands to finish.

The 2 big issues for me at the moment are the lack of an LAA executable (which should be relevant to all/most PC players), and the memory leak(s), which is relevant to everyone. But an occasional CTD after hours of play isn't a big deal to me.

I haven't ever come across a bug so far, except for 1 which was fixed by spamming some buttons (DB questline, no spoiling)

First time I tried to start a new game I was in front of the carriage, and heard the sound of the carriage moving, but nothing was happening as we were supposed to be on the carriage.

I've since finished a few quests that leave quest items in my inventory that add excess weight to my already weighted down character. Not a fan of that.

The skeletons of dead dragons have done some weird things at times.
