If you felt that Bethesda was truly listening to the Communi

I'd ask them that they give us a continuous behind the scenes look during the development process. Videos of meetings, chats with programmers, artists, voice actors etc etc. They do do some of this stuff but I would like to see considerably more of it and presented as a package on a regular basis direct to the community and not via third party websites.

They didn't "share"...they "sold" you their product. Listening to the community is about keeping customer loyalty and ensuring better sales for the next game (or DLC).

I still remember when my mother bought me Temple of Elemental Evil. It was an Atari game, but was so buggy and ill-supported that I was so angry that when Atari released Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of Underdark, while I did have Neverwinter Nights I didn't buy them!

...so Atari lost my money for many years until Neverwinter Nights 2 was released.

They "hungry and dumb Corporation" approach doesn't pay...

They develop quite complex games. In my opinion they should expand their idea of "taking hints" from the modding community...as insiders they've better knowledge of their game, but modders have a better understanding of the community desires.

I consider sharing the game akin to an author sharing their book, or an artist sharing their work. Neither of which I would tell what I think they should have done differently. If they choose to do more, great. And yes, I pay for the privilege of experience it.

"Don't listen to the community, Beth. DEAR GOD, DON'T DO IT!"

Best
Post
Ever.

Personally I would thank them for the game which has given me many, many hours of enjoyment to date and just mention what I think it would be cool to see.

Sorry guys, I do have asked to avoid a "fan-boy" approach. This is a thread for hypotetical request...not for thanking or bootlicking Bethesda...as much as it's not about bashing their game without clarifying what's wrong in it.

The disaster that is the magic system is due to Bethesda not listening... or at least not hearing correctly. Nobody told them to remove spellmaking.

Nobody.

At all.

There were those of us who told them it was a mistake to do so for many reasons [like those in my sig] and unfortunately we were right.

I think most people simply ask too much. It is their game, and their vision. As far as I'm concerned, they have no obligation to listen to me or the community. I am simply happy they chose to share their product with me.

:celebration:

i would ask them to continue sharing their products i love for the years to come :)

Consider that this would take time for the "real work"...in my personal experience meetings often burn worktime from real tangible work, so I guess that "reality-show-like" meetings would make this even worse...so you'd end up with a continual behind the scene and the development will slow down to a crawl...would you really want this? :-?

However, in a sense, I can see your point, in a way...sometimes Bethesda sounds "a bit too much silent"...if not a continual "behind the scenes", may be a little more "leaking" on the next versions updates and more verbose release notes would help in making people less restless.

Sometimes Bethesda's silence make you think like "Hey? It's anybody at home?!"...

I know. I also liked the old spellmaking, but I don't know if, after changing that, would be possible to come back on their steps (even if they wanted).

i would ask why attributes and fun (and useful for mountains) skills were removed, and why ther is not a much wider selection of weapons since they focused on making it more geared to combat, speaking of which, i would also ask them why it is geared so much to combat (lack of story and dialog, and every quest basicly says "go here to this dungeon and kill/get this")

that is all for now

I want:

attributes: speed, strength, intelligence, agility and luck

a new user interface: sortable lists, easily see what is stolen in my inventory, a new bartering menu, the d-pad mapping like in OB.

spell making

a backpack

no more lag or crashing

a sweetroll to replace the one that was stolen..

a bandaid for this arrow in my knee..

Yeah, but the purpose of their questions were to mock and ridicule customers who were sold a faulty product.

"Do you intend to rebalance the magic schools to be comparable with other class skills in terms of effectiveness?"
"Do you plan on stopping support for the game at some arbitrary patch number regardless of how many bugs are remaining like you've done in previous games?"
"Can we expect features returned to us through DLC's or expansions that you removed from the game?"
"It's assumed spellcrafting was removed for balance purposes, but enchanting and alchemy reintroduce that very problem. Do you intend to fix it?"
"What is the purpose of the community manager/relations position if said person doesn't communicate with the community about these issues?"

Ahh... A faulty product? Now I see why any comments directed towards Beth that are even near happy must not be allowed. Opinions are okay as long as they are yours right?

You're making some sort of assumption that I'm apparently not privy to, from your wording it seems like a bad one.

1-There is no technical reason Spellmaking can not be brought back tomorrow [well, within a very short period of time] as all the effects and the interface are already there.

2-Balance issues are a non-issue. With the ton of exploits Bethesda is absolutely fine with for melee and their demonstrated inability to know what over-nerfing looks like when it comes to magic even while painfully obvious to most of us, Bethesda has no leg to stand on to convincingly argue about what magic should or shouldn't include and nothing to do but start swallowing their pride and open up the spigot on magecraft. Anything less than restoring magic is unacceptable at this point as Mages should not have to wait for TES:VI for a fix. To make the anology.... Skyrim magic system is the Elder Scrolls equivalent of New Coke and just like with New Coke the only proper response is to acknowledge the whole thing was a mistake and to undo the mistake.

If you felt that Bethesda was truly listening to the Community, what would you ask them?

64 bit exe, DX11 features, multi-core optimization, textures and shadows that don't look like a monkey's backside for the PC version, proper mouse/keyboard support, a PC UI, release the CK (why do I have to wait two months for Steam integration I'll never use?).... That's probably about it, just the stuff that shouldn't even have to be asked for..... that we have to ask for.

Yep, after paying $60.00 for the game, $30.00 for the guide, and about $8.00 for shipping, I guess it's asking to much to have a game that installs itself properly, and allows a player to play his character without, or only with minimum, problems.

Wow, what am I thinking of?

I'm always wondering why some players have to come into these threads with their "I don't have any problems, so neither should you," attitude. You can stick your head in the sand, but if you look at the Hardware/Software section for all 3 platforms - since release, there are thousands of players that have been asking for help, and most are not getting it. Or should we talk about patch 1.2, or backward flying dragons?

And before someone brings up the "there are too many different computers/boxes out there, so it's almost impossible for a company to make the game work for everyone," remember that Blizzard did a pretty good job of it, with a game that sold almost twice as many copies as Skyrim. Granted, there are problems there, too, but not nearly as many. And, their staff is actively involved in fixing issues - they have employees that actually monitor their technical forum and provide help to players that need it.

As a PS3 user, I would ask them how long they tested it. I'm 70 hours in and my character is completely unplayable due to freezing issues.

I would say, that it would be reasonable if you were willing to pay more than 60 dollars for the game. Ironic how the price of games for the last 20 years has been roughly the same. But I suspect that the cost/profit ratio has been studied many times and when you keep the same price, you have to develop a game within that. And as games get continually more complex and user expectations become more difficult to satisfy, you can figure out what might happen.

Sincerely, why they can't afford to spend a few of those hundred millions of dollars on more than 3 voice actors. And maybe some more on good ones.
