Deep down in an old dwarf ruin you find an old dusty gate, and the secret behind the dwermer technology - technology from an other ancient, let's say evil, race. Let us call them "Torcks". The Torcks lived in Skyrim-Northern Cyrodill long b4 any of the races had even set foot on the region, be that men, elves, orcks, dwarfs or beats but they went extinct after a mysterious occurrence (punishment from the nine gods due to their evil, maybe?). The dwermer though were the first to actually populate the area and they were the first, and only, to discover the Torcks' dark secrets.
One of these dark secrets was gunpowder and primitive rifling. I think that the player should get access to muskets at low level, before he will start finding dwermer/torck rifles. In the end he may even find high-level sniper-rifles (they would ofc run on magica though)? I'm thinking really accurate auto-weapons. Like that1 in Fallout 3.
Anyway. The adding of another race could be fun.. HELL, we might even unlock it as playable if you complete your first playthrough. I think many of you are sceptical to making an extinct race playable due to the lack of realism, but I really think that there can be found loopholes. Let's say the nine gods forgave the or something, and they sent one torck down to the world, tamriel, to maybe give the race another chance. So, if you play the torck, what will you do? Will you be good, and thus secure a future for your race? Will you be evil and selfish? Or will you take the path of power and challenge the nine gods themselves (including Tiber Septim I.)? That choice is up 2 you.

Can anyone explain the "dwermer" phenomena? I don't understand why I've seen it spelled this way so often on these forums.
No thanks to the idea of firearms. Also I think one ancient race is good enough for us not to be able to play as haha.
