You guys happy with Boston?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:58 am

I'm fine with Boston. Boston is a fine city. I'm just hoping we don't get the pleasure of hearing this exchange

"Ay I left mah khakis in mah kar at hahvahd yahd."

"Tunnel Sox rule!"

"Pahtrolin' the hahvahd yahd almost makes ya wish fer a nucler wintah"

no accents. Please. I beg of you.

Welll... I was hoping for something exotic like Hawaii, Florida or even Alaska (which would be awesome if they kept survivalist mode from NV.) Though if Obsidian does get to make another FO game, I hope they get to make that New Orleans game they were talking about.

I really like the choice Bethesda made by going with Boston, they need to expand the East Coast lore. And I agree with whoever stated that Bethesda should handle East Coast while Obsidian should work on the West Coast.

Nope, would rather they move away from America for even just 1 game.

I Don't mind it though tbh.

Only a small part, and the lesser of the two major cities. The Pitt was worthy of an expansion because it's a smaller city (or a very large town). Philadelphia is one of the biggest cities in the U.S., and historically has been one of the most important since the before the beginning of the country.

I'm sure a lot of cities had comparable stuff before those bombs dropped. Have you seen the Philadelphia skyline recently?

Just saying, Boston is known for a lot more of the old stone buildings, same thing for Philadelphia. Did you know that the tallest masonry building in the world is Philadelphia's City Hall? Yeh, Philadelphia is known for it's stone buildings. Boston too.

California would be great too. The primitive tribes and ruthless gangs

But NCR...ugh. I would enjoy killing them again though. Cali has a lot of potential still, imo.

The culture is from the 50s, but the games take place much much later. The Great War started and ended on Oct. 23, 2077. There is almost a century of progress and growth since the culture was "frozen". Play The Pitt expansion from Fallout 3. There are buildings in that skyline that weren't built until the early 70s to mid-late 80s.

I think Boston is a decent choice. Decent mix of architecture between modern and colonial construction.

I'm in no hurry to explore the fall out universe outside of the continental US, at least not in the main series games. Maybe in a DLC or spin off it would make sense. Remember that if they ever explored the universe outside of the US you wouldn't have the Enclave, or any word of the NCR, and there might not even be any supermutants or deathclaws since they were developed in the continental US. Unless the supermutants and deathclaws were swimming, hopping boats or chartering a flight there's no way they would have left North America.

I do wonder how far in the future this is taking place relative to FO3 and FO:NV. Are they going to discuss the Legion? Are they even aware of the Legion or the NCR? The Legion was supposed to be fairly large east of Nevada so I can easily imagine there being some exposure even as far east as Boston. On the other hand the NCR had a pretty limited sphere of influence.

Or perhaps there's a competing nascent state in the East that would be similar to the NCR in terms of goals and influence? Are we still using bottlecaps? What's to say that they use bottlecaps out East? They didn't use bottlecaps in the Legion...

OK with it, but Seattle would have offered far more varied storyline possibilities, at least from an industrial, military, and geographical perspectives.

I kind of thought it was a random choice as I was so sure Fallout 4 would carry on where New Vegas left off.

How do I feel about Boston? I'm extremely happy with it, I've been hoping that rumor was true for a long time now.

I've visited Boston on several occasions, and if not for it being Yankee territory and having horrific winters I'd love to spend more time there. Historically it's a great choice for the franchise in my opinion, as part of what I really loved about Fallout 3 were the historical references. I've also visited DC on a number of occasions, and love it as well.

For me, Bethesda Fallout games simply require that Americana.

I've been saying for years that I would love to see a game set in New Orleans. I would have been extremely happy with this as well, maybe in eight more years.

As far as revisiting the West Coast, I think the originals handled it beautifully. It would feel cheap to try and revisit that now, IMO. I hope it never happens.

If I want to visit Redding, I'll fire up an isometic engine.

Not really random, they were heavily hinting at Boston in Fallout 3.

I'm delighted. I grew up on the East Coast, but don't know Boston well, so it will be a chance to become better acquainted. Varied topography, rich history, the ruins of venerable educational institutions, what's not to like?

Fine by me. At least they didn't choose some random place like Nebraska or something.

If I had to choose would've went with Seattle. I also think a game set in New York is inevitable. Be prepared for all the references in-game.

I've never been to Boston but as a city that I've been to on numerous occasions and that I'm fairly familiar with, I have a really hard time seeing NOLA as a location for a FallOut game. If they could do it right, then I would be all for it! What is going on in the Gulf Commonwealth? Might would be interesting.

Mr. House was able to fire several defensive missiles, to save some of the strip. We were constrained resource-wise, to see a full-scale New Vegas, but that was the in-universe explanation, given during dialogue in the main quest.

I totally understand the rush job that was forced and all the ins and outs I just would have preferred a more fuller city like that of DC

Somewhere in Alaska would have been cool, maybe for a DLC. I thought the Chinese came through Alaska and into annexed Canada to eventually reach the rest of USA.
