You guys happy with Boston?

No, not until there are Matt Damon &B Ben Affleck cameos, then it will be perfect. Also a nuked Fenway is a must.

OH! Another reason why I like Boston. I would love to see a ruined Fenway park since I'm a Yankee fan.:P

It's possible, but not necessarily logical. The Enclave never numbered a great deal. During their time of exodus, they couldn't possibly have had the numbers to establish and maintain many outposts. I imagine that even those are likely little more than small stations akin to the two-room bunker the Remnants abandoned prior to New Vegas.

but didnt they recruit pure humans with no genetic mutation into their ranks? For sure the BOS would have outposts if the Enclave does....the other factions are all localized anyway. maybe the NCR would be pushing east too? and the Legion? Other than that - there would be your usual deathclaws, mutants and ghouls .... and a few more chicago based gangs.... i like it lol

There are no other pure humans by Enclave standards. Just them and Vault Dwellers, and only Dwellers from vaults like 13 and 101, that have been closed this entire time. That is not the norm. There are no examples of Enclave recruitment.

The Midwestern BoS should be in the Chicago region in force. Though they bare little resemblance to their western counterparts. They are a split faction that is way more brutal, but also much more progressive in taking in new members. There are definitely tribal raider factions in the Midwest. We deal with many of them in Fallout Tactics.

NCR seems to end at the Mojave borders. But the Legion could very well be moving in that direction.

I hear you. You'll disagree with me here, but I actually meant I would like the Enclave to return as a joinable faction, as well as the Brotherhood of Steel. They were heavily present in Fallout 3, but they were always hostile and you were tasked with destroying them. For both factions, I would very much like the option of having both of them joinable, as well as the many other factions I expect will be present in the game.

Edit: I have actually just remembered that the Enclave will not be a faction you may join, unless you were born into their ranks. This is because they consider EVERYBODY outside of their ranks as mutants, making it impossible for an outsider to join.

Actually, you know what? It would be so cool if the guy at the start of the trailer with his wife and baby was the protagonist. They fled to Vault 111, gained access, and he was placed in a cryogenic chamber, enabling him to live through the war. At this point, you're then able to select your tagged skills and traits based on the occupation you had before the Great War. Perhaps the protagonist was a member of the Enclave, ha. That's wishful thinking and a bit far-fetched, however.

What Enclave? They've been beaten to the ground at least three times (Chosen One, BOS/NCR and BOS/LW). Enough is enough, let them rest in peace. I wouldn't mind seeing remnants though doing other things like in NV. But either way you have to be born in the Enclave to be a member.

I was hoping for a midwestern setting so yes, I'm a tad disappointed.

I would have preferred someplace more along the lines of Toronto or New Orleans. Something different than what we've seen before. Boston just seems like another bland northeastern American city, but the way it looks in the trailer actually has me quite intrigued.

Gah, New Orleans! I'd love to see New Orleans in Post Apocalyptia. Not sure how it would fit in with the over arching Fallout story but it would be cool.

I think there is a lot of possibility with the location, aside from the Institute being there.

Lots of supposed secret tunnels from earlier than the declaration of independence, abandoned subway tunnels, underground railroad tunnels and hidden rooms.

Channels, Islands, Isthmuses and Peninsulas mean that there can be some pretty decent factional isolation, even in a small area- hopefully this is utilized so there are a few main factions to side with.

Easily lends itself distance wise to playing off of the lore of F3, with room for it's own.

I like that the town is known as an international port of entry, and is steeped in seafaring heritage- this hopefully lends itself to explain what is in the waters of the Atlantic, and how Tenpenny may have made the voyage- opening up the world, but remaining faithful to the North American setting.

the bigest problem i had with Obsidian is in DC it was destroyed rubble everywhere ok thats plasable...

New Vegas was "untuched" by the nuclear holocaust. so where the hell is the damn city? there is nothing there but a handfull of buildings and the strip was way to small IMO.

At least FO3 there was rubble everywhere showing there was once something there. more imercive.

Just can't get over the whole Vegas was "Untuched" part yet it is desolat and empty.

Maybe Bethesda is just setting up a massive overarching FO project that spans several games and console generations that will eventually have a neat and tidy tie-in with previous FO that is so genius, so ground-breaking, that choices you made in FO3 that you innocently thought weren't even remotely important, are now meaningful and deeply nuanced outcomes to a grand, unparalleled world. No... Bethesda isn't subtle and creative.

I could see New Orleans working similar to Point Lookout.

Swamp/Bayou fauna with heavy occult and supernatural themes and a grimy dark and shadowy theme for the city itself. With a very creepy overall atmosphere.

Could work very well I think.

I would have preferred somewhere in the midwest since that is where I live. But Boston is fine.

Fallout Tactics is set in the midwest, if that's something you're interested in.

The bulk of the U.S. Army was in China, plenty of them would have survived. There would probably be a pocket empire full of Chinese with English names and the occasional sign of their US ancestry there somewhere.
