You guys happy with Boston?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 10:55 am

So what do you guys think??? I especially want to know from looooong time players - the ones who played the first Fallout - up to Fallout NV....

Ill start- I WILL LOVE exploring Boston, just because its a Fallout game BUTTTTT:

California would have been so much cooler =) reason IMO?

1- San francisco and the Posidien ship

2- Los Angeles and the Cathedral

3- Delve deeper into the California republic story

4- I believe (i cant really remember right now) that the mutants came from the west- so we could delve deeper into that too

5- Bring back a lot of old characters and sets that the newer players dont know much about

And all of it would be in glorious modern graphics =)

anyone else rooting for another setting before the announcement ?

Androids came from that area too, according to the stuff in F3:D That guy in trenchcoat with cybernetic, t-800 hand was rather cool.

Should be cool. Looking forward to it. I still say China would be fun to visit. Fallout: Yangtze. Oh the possibilities

Personally, I would prefer having the game set in Chicago or anywhere in the midwest but that's just me.

LOL

I never thought of another country. So in the fallout universe (i think) - the war is between China and the US. They both end up getting nuked, but I THINK the vault system was exclusive to the us. In the end the story of fallout is the story of a vault dweller - but it would be cool to have fallout storys in other countrys !

it depends on the final product if its just kinda falloutish like fallout 3 was im gonna be livid however if Bethesda actually reads up on the lore of fallout like obsidian did when they made fallout new vegas instead of just skimming it quickly so they can make the game and cash in ill be happy.

I wasn't originally drawn to the idea but after some thinking, I am all for it now. It fits in amazingly well with Fallout lore and we have the Institute here. Home of the andoids! Perhaps a quest unearthing Harkness' creation may be present, or have it in a way that you can read up on his creation through a video recorded of him being made, or through terminal entries.

The Brotherhood of Steel will certainly be awesome in this Boston setting. My only hope is that we're able to explore the Enclave a little bit more.

No. It's even more boring than Washington. I'd love a more low key setting like in Point Lookout (the best of the new generation Fallout settings so far) myself.

that would actually be cool. and maybe an expansion taking place in canada up north lol

i think in the lore of fallout , there was a brother hood of steel faction in the mid-west. i cant remember which state - but it would be awesome either way

my position is this -the old fallout games were soooooo heavy set in the west- everything fallout 3 players love came from the west lol. it would be so cool to see that in modern times

( can you imagine the tribal area of the first game with canyons everywhere in modern graphics???? damn!)

Androids are pretty much the main reason I'm not a fan of the Boston setting. The tech level they displayed in 3 was a turn-off for me, but I'll refrain form going into that.
Androids aside, I think Boston could end up being a solid location. It's nice and close to DC, so we can get some info on what happened in F3.

Not gonna lie, I'd have also preferred to be further west. Not necessarily California again, but close enough to hear what happened in the Mojave. Midwest would've been ideal, to learn what happened in and after Tactics. Oh well. If they leave the west and midwest to Obsidian, I'll be a happy fan.

point lookout exists already! lol

but i respect your opinion. i think DC was pretty cool, who doesnt want to see the nations capitol after the war ? i think the water story from Fallout 3 was kinda weak, but the setting i loved (as i did the expansion packs , including point lookout)

like i said, Fallout IMO is the story of a vault dweller surviving after the war. I cant see too many vaults in non populated areas so i wouldnt want to see a game take place in those settings, but as an expansion pack , IM ALL FOR IT!

I was actually hoping for a game set along Route 66; the major settlements being smaller and separated by miles of road.

Ah, *but*, we know that a contingent of American power armor troops infiltrated the Chinese mainland! Maybe they took over a Chinese fallout shelter and survived? Maybe they realized the futility of continuing the mission and created their own tribal group?

Yeah, I am excited about Boston
Should be interesting discovering more about the illusive Institute.

I would have prefered Chicago with the Enclave remnants though. I love the Enclave......

Bethesda is just sticking with what they know and that is the east coast, so there FO games take place there. Obsidian/Black Isle knew/knows the west coast, so their FO games take/took place there. I really hope Obsidian gets to make a NV2. I would love to see/know what became of the Mojave. But as an old Fallout fan Boston is fine with me. I would love to see what new factions we get to see there. I was disappointed with seeing the BOS though. But oh well, hopefully no more Enclave.

I'm quite the opposite, as I feel both these factions have been shoved down our throats enough as it is throughout the series. The Enclave have been the antagonist for two games already, and I think we explored plenty in that time. They're mainly dead as far as we're concern and hopefully they finally stay that way. The most I'd like to see out of the Enclave is an abandoned outpost in Chicago, or small remnants of soldiers turned psychotic raiders.

I'd prefer the Brotherhood sit it out for once considering they're played a significant role in every Fallout game in some way, but if Bethesda can't help but to include them, I hope it's a minor role.

Anyway, I'm fine with Boston. But like Doc mentioned, I'm not too big on the androids either. I still look forward to a Fallout game set in good old Chicago.

hahaha true, but id rather dig deeper in the lore we have than create a new story in china or russia =)

I thought the Enclave was from northern California! posieden was there base! But if they're from Chicago that would make it even more cool. Cali is still my fave choice though lol

i would hate a New Vegas 2- but im with you with everything else. I just think the name should be related to California or the Mojave desert and not Los Vegas again lol

Also- the heart of the BOS is out west so its wierd we never get to explore it

They are indeed from California. But we learn in NV that they established an outpost in Chicago while heading east to DC. We don't know the size or state of that outpost.

Boston is fine as long as they let the Boston landmarks take a backseat to the world they are creating, for the most part.

If they use the creativity to make a unique and interesting world, the real world location shouldn't really matter.

ahh i missed that part....so its logical to think that there are a lot of outposts in the midwest from the western factions moving east. Chicago and the areas north and south would make a great setting IMO

but im still with CALI!!!! lol

Yeah, I know its far fetched. I've always wondered what China was like after the war, just thought it would be cool to find out.
