Hold on a sec, the only "bullet" that should produce a curve within NV combat distance is .44 special.
Mine isn't a bullet, its one of these... http://www.taser.com/products/law/Pages/TASERXREP.aspx
(And its also home made from salvaged electronics, so I envision it as being not exactly ideal weight).

The round shocks living targets and shorts out robots (does about 25 damage too). People take minimal (nuisance) damage, and get knocked out for a variable duration.

I turned off Iron Sites. See no need for them.

Depends on the gun and the situation, but yes, I use iron sights. Sometimes.

I use iron sights, although sometimes it makes aiming far more difficult than it helps.

I use them religiously and wouldn't play the game without them, they are a godsend IMO.
I dont remember FO3's aiming although i've almost completed it

I prefer iron sights. I really didn't like the lack of them in FO3, and I tended to be really inaccurate in that game so I relied on VATS. Much prefer combat in FONV.

They do get in the way on some guns, most notably the cowboy repeater, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Iron Sights is great I always use it unless I'm using something like the Marksman Carbine then I'll just aim and shoot Tony Montana style.

Constantly. Shame that Laser Weapons (excluding the RCW) are missing them, but the modding community is fixing that. With project Nevada, i rather use bullet time and iron sights rather than VATS.

It would be awesome if really working Laser pointers were possible to aim the guns where iron sight aren't possible (Minigun and Gattling Laser for example), but apparently the engine can't do it.

I love the iron sights for long distance shots with rifles. At close quarters they can obstruct your view. I leave iron sights on because I like them more than I do the "zoom" mode. I wonder if it would be possible to make a mod that would let you toggle between the zoom and true iron sights modes.

I like the iron sights, but I LOVE that you have the option to turn them off.

I'd like iron sights to be more small like they are IRL. I find if I have a smaller area to look through, those precision shots are easier to make.

I don't use crosshairs, so yes, i do use ironsights, but I am quite good at firing from the hip with no crosshairs.

Nope I find it pretty cumbersome. I honestly prefer Fallout 3's sights. But to each their own.
My thoughts here.

I never understood ironsights. I've turned it off, and I don't notice any difference. You can still hit the r-mouse button and the gun "zooms" in (blocking my view sometimes) a bit as it's held up in the middle of the screen, whether it's "on" or "off." So I just leave it on default.

What exactly does it do anyway.

So if ironsights means looking down the barrel view (which seems to be what it does when you don't have a scope attached), yes I do that a lot with certain guns...mostly the pistols and rifles.

It centers the weapon in front of you (like Quake, but a little higher). Its cosmetic as far as I know.

This shows it...

But then why does it still do it when you turn the setting off? What's the point then. :P

From watching that video it looks (to me) like it centers it horizontally, but also does it vertically when set to "on".

Hm...ok. I'll have to experiment with it more to see if I notice any practical difference, eg in aiming. Seems more cosmetic tho, like you said.

Using iron sights makes it so that you are (nominally) looking down the weapon's sights, which means that the effects of sway are shown. With iron sights off, your aim point is completely static while the weapon bobs slightly and you have no way of knowing exactly where it's aiming. This becomes an issue at long ranges.

Other problems:
1. Many weapons do not have sights, which would make them incredibly difficult to aim.
2. Many weapons that have sights are inaccurate with no way to adjust them.
3. Some sights are uselessly vague (frex .357 revolver; some pistols in Borderlands have the same "double block" sight picture, who the heck thinks this is a useful system to aim with)
4. There is no way to change the type of sights that a weapon has, so you cannot swap out your long range peep sight for a close range notch and post setup.
5. Many sights take up huge portions of screen real estate which hurts situational awareness.

I tried the game with iron sights on, and ultimately decidedly it was better off.
