If you had the time

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:59 pm

Looking for things to do, in my spare time, and get something to show for it. I’ve been thinking about taking either diving, parachuting or paragliding certificates, but I’m wondering if there is anything else I could do. Preferably something that can be done in relatively little time and money. Maybe a bodyguard course or sailing or something like that.

If money wasn't a big issue, I'd love to learn to fly. Fixed wing or rotary, preferably both.

Then there's languages, I've started Russian at the moment, and I've tried German, French and Chinese. I'd love to actually know any of the languages, but I plan on going back and learning German again, I've always wanted to learn Swedish, and I'm hoping Russian will stick with me.

And instruments. Drums, piano, harpsichord, harp, cello, balalaika and sitar to name but a few.

I bought Rosetta stone ( an awesome language program) and I’m learning Spanish and Arabic. (not perfectly but still good enough to understand what is being said)
learning to fly would be great, but what I’ve heard is that it takes a long time (and is expensive) and you can only fly one type of plane (not talking about commercial flight, that’s just ridicules)

Everything in your list seems rather extreme for my tastes.

When Im bored, have a bunch of time, and am In the mood of bettering myself; I just get onto YouTube and look for random tutorial videos. Sometimes I learn to sketch, sometimes I learn to dance, a little of this, a little of that. It all works out nicely for me. :)

But if you're looking for something to dedicate yourself to a certain skill set, then you might want to go for something that could actually help you later on in life. In your career or something.

Definitely play the tons of games that I have accumulated over the last 10 years that are still packaged and just collecting dust.

Also, learn to play guitar...already can sing.

With just time, play more games. With more time and money, build the ultimate gaming machine complemented with the ultimate PC speaker setup. And by PC speaker setup I of course me surrounding myself in a circle of $20,000 speakers connect to my computer through a DAC. Then buy all the music I have on my wishlist. After I'm done with that I'd buy a nicer camera and every other week I'd travel to a different country and take pictures.

I came.

If I had the time and the money, I would visit every single country in the world... except Sweden. Other Scandinavians hate Sweden.
And I've always wanted to learn to speak good Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese.

I would either go out and learn Parkour or take my time to finish learning Moonlight Sonata and some other great piano pieces, learn the cello. I would learn Russian, French, Italian, Swedish and Mandarin.

OR I could go out and buy two stereos, hook them up to my brothers new car, push the car to a girls house, and play an awesome song through the stereos while she is inside :)
