Situation: You are working in Vault-Tec. Year is 2065. A new Vault is being built, and you get to decide what the experiment is going to be.

My vault would definately be a place where are 250 blind people, 250 deaf people, 250 armless people and 250 people without feet.
Idea: Test how people can co-operate in difficult situation. Every mechanical thingie needs atleast eye recognition and fingerprint. The Overseer (in full condition) announces things with microphone and only way to hear him is headphones. That gives pressure to armless people and the feetless people would have to communicate with the deaf.

They would also have to survive and reproduce, resulting in a fully normal Vault in a generation or two.

My vault would definetely be an experimental vault. Inside their would be the same as others, but scientist would expose themselves to radiation and figure out ways to cure it.

My Vault would have a large chemical and drug supplies. The Overseer would implant very stressful situations (fatal "accidents", system failures, etc.) into the everyday life of the Vault residents, and record their reactions. As a solution to their problems, a small "faction" of the Vault (created by the Overseer) would hook-up troubled people on chems and drugs, again as a behavior factor. People who would become addicted (if they haven't died yet), would serve as the Vault's security team, receiving chems instead of work credits (Vault currency). It would be scheduled to open in 100 years from the time of sealing. In the event of a failure (the addicts stage a riot against the Vault's "un-addicted" population), the Vault's hidden turret systems (programmed to shoot anyone from the Overseer's "addict" list) would keep the others safe. But, as usual, nothing goes as planned...

999 Normal humans. 1 human infected with a zombifying virus. The experiment would test how untrained civilians deal with a virulent 'alien' virus in a sealed environment. Did I mention the infected person is the armory chief... with the only key to the weapons lockers? Good luck Vault Z.

A random number of people who are left-winged, a random of number of people who are right-winged, divergence from Conservatieve and Orthodox to Progessieve and Liberal Minded, from Authoritian to Liberal ... And sorta ... The Vault would be the one vault Democratic, with elections, But I'm sure I would put in some radicials who don't believe in Democracy and start a Junta of some sort.

a vault filled entirley with people carrying herriditary diseases would be fun for a couple of generations.

My vault would contain randomly placed traps, equipment designed to fail for a certain amount of time, sudden blackouts, and the power going on and off at weird times. Oh, and the traps would include stuff like saw blades appearing from the ground, rats being released, rooms sealing shut and flooded with tear gas, spikes shooting from the ground, boxing gloves firing off at times (like in the cartoons), tranquilizer darts, flamethrowers, etc.

It'll be designed around how long people can last and live with the though the constant threat of danger, no matter how large or small. Also the traps, blackouts, etc would happen 0-10 times a day, completely random between those numbers.

Vault 404: 1,000,000 books, 1000 people, and 1 immobile light source in a small room.

Vault 59- You can come in and stay, or go as you please.

one vault filled with 300 people envolved in the enforcement and protection of the law (police men judges, lawyers et all)
and 100 serious repeat offenders

how about a vault filled with mental patients who can control their psychosis with drugs the drugs just run out after 6 months, and the vault won't open for 20 years.
lets see what comes out after that, hmmmm, bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. etc. etc.

There are forty die-hard religious people in a Vault and a constant recording of preaching from another religion is playing over the intercom. To stop the recording, every inhabitant must say a prayer from another religion. If that is done, the recording will be changed to the song "Achy Breaky Heart". Muahahahahaha! >=D

Vault 172

Seventy inhabitants with no weapons and a deathclaw (impossible in pre-war times, but it'd still be fun).

Everybody with different sixual preferences (even the less decent ones)

- Zoophiliacs (Attracted too animals (Yes, there are animals in the vault as well)

- Teratophilia (Attracted to ?deformed? people)

Hell... you get the point. Seeing as there are practically hundreds of different recognized preferences, I would be a fool to even attempt at listing half.

Another one:
A vault full of hardcoe gamers and the ancestors of Uwe Boll, a dvd player and a copy of bloodrayne, postal etc. plus a fully equipped torture chamber.

You want more?:
A vault full of obese people and borderline anorexic people. The skinny ones have access to the food while the fatsos have acces to the laxatives.

Well, it'd be a rather odd vault:
The official experiment will be 1000/1000 men/women with NO entertainment and a HUGE stockpile of weapons and ammo with no lock, and the vault should be sealed fo ever.
Unfortunately, the stockpile will be locked, and wouldn't you know it, there would be a decent amount of entertainment. Oh, and a lot of survival gear. And 10 G.E.C.K.S. And the vault will malfunction into opening right after it's safe to go out. Oh well...

They will rule the wasteland.

what oh whay oh what would i do with a vault in my hands, let me think for a moment.

i would set up 5 different wings in the vault, all connneceted by "vault doors" all inhbitents of the vault would be babies, keft in there as soon as they could walk and fend for themselves. each wing of the vault would be exposed to different things.

WING 1
the children have al been exposed to the white noise, and are embedded with pshycoactive thoughts of muder in crazy ways but only those who are not "one of them" they live freely "crazily of course:"

WING 2
all children have been raised into the military life style. all inhabitents have recived exgensive traing on martial arts and how to use mele weapons.

WING3
the inhabitents of wing 3 have recived military in martial arts and have also been trained in the use of mele weapons BUT have been exposed to the same white noise as wing 1 and see wing one memebers as their brethrin

wing 4
these people live a good , comfortable life.

wing 5
only 5 people will be alowed into this wing, the receive epic ammounts of traing in every combat tactic and style imginable, the recive a huge stockpile of weapons.

D sector
the area that all vaults will be realsed into, thus forming an allout war in the central area consisting of savgery seen only in zombie flicks, the ultimate end will be only the strongest 10 survive, be them the physcos , or the normals, who ever is left after 500 years of fighting will be relised into the world,thus con branching off and all 10 trying to conquor the world 6 die and 4 meet in their pursuits, in thier conflicts for the earth, they ignite world war 4 and end up destroying the earth.
