Do you have faith?

Post » Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:52 pm

In the next ES do you believe the Nine (or that regions deities) would/could come to the rescue of the hero? In Morrowind we had Azura help the Nerevar and Oblivion Akatosh helped against with the daedric invasion.

:EDIT:

The past storyline of TES seemed to have a divine influence in it. Should the next one have any?

What are you talking about? I honestly don't know how to answer your first question.
Also pretty confused about the second. I don't think we can call on the Daedra to do our bidding aside from summoning them, no.

In the next ES do you believe the Nine (or that regions deities) would/should come to the rescue of mer mortals? In MW and OB we had some type of divine intervention, do you think this is the way that some type of great evil would be vanquished?

Also do you think that the Nine would be split on what they could do for the men and mer of Nirn? Maybe the Daedra would have a better solution for the hero?

Not sure what the plan is. Guess: The Nine are more or less exposed on their own level of greedy as the Infernal City lands as well as Daedric Princes becoming more fearful and less powerful as part of one of the relms is cemented away from Clavicus Vile. Probably de-centralization of government. All in all the people rise and fight the abuse of the Daedra, Nine, and Imperials via a Skyrim setting.

I don't know about "coming to the rescue". Elder Scrolls deities seem to fall more into the realm of "meddling with mortals" imo.

Will one of the daedric lords make an appearance like Sheogorath in Shivering Isles? I wouldn't be surprised.

:shifty:

I really hope not, though. I don't like the Nine meddling. It's just not like them. They're also pretty boring, imo.

They are Nirn. They can't rescue themselves. They couldn't even save their collective butts from that trumped-up demi-daedra Umaril.

I'm sure they could appear in dreams and stuff, but I doubt they do the direct divine intervention/manifestation thing to any useful degree.

They did have avatars in MW. Mostly you had to save them though!

I think my answer is it will depend on my characters. Some will have faith and see the Nine's hand working in the most unlikely places, others will be able to rationalise away dragons appearing and defeating 90 foot high Daedric Princes (to themselves anyway).

Am I the only one who dislikes the Nine? I liked it more how it was back in Daggerfall - Same gods, but each had its own followers. No "Nine Divines" or "Eight and One."

In my opinion, hell no. Even the past game, its most likely the players have a choice that he does all the work with little to no help from those deities.

Ya not the only one. I don't really view some of the Divine as the "good" guys either (neutral is much better term for them) . As for their follower, I tend to mistake some of the temples as brothel, to be honest.

There should be some conflict with the Nord deity Ysmir, the dragon.

Is the Nine the only form of worship(apart from MW tribunal)? I'd like to see some of the "barbaric" faiths, if the next ES has that it might give a new quest lines.

There are Nord gods. There are Elven gods. They have their own Pantheons. The Dragon Ysmir is of some importance for them, but isnt he Talos? But then we also worship Talos so that makes sense that they also do, under another name.

If I had to wager a guess, I would say that the next game has less to do with divine prophecy and more along the lines of political intrigue. With the fall of the empire as we knew it, the game would probably have a lot to do with figuring out new leadership and a lot of inner political conflict. There would probably be an elder scroll with a prophecy, like every other game, but I think it might have to do with the remains of the empire instead of an otherworldly threat. But like it was said before, the game hasn't even been announced yet, so we have no ideas about storyline and finer details until we see something.

For any new lore past the ending of Oblivion, The Infernal City is a good read. It reveals a good number of details about what happens next, but that story is supposed to take place a good time before the next game anyways, and details could still change after that. At least that's what I've heard. Everything I said could be wrong as far as I know, so don't take my word as law.

imo the next storyline might be the empire disolving into civil-strife due to the lack of a single leader, each city as it's own state making their own alliances, enemies, and even worshiping their own god, like sense each city has it's own temple each city would designate that as their single diety. The council dissepates and returns to their homes. ==wow you know I just sat here and type a whole storyline but deleted all of it hahaha. I stopped at them equal sign things, but yea if I could find the damn suggestions thread I'd have a hellufalot to say hahaha

that's a book?? I saw it on the website commin in and I thought it was another extension thing :(... so there's no way the empire goes into civil strife and wars within as their own city-state? :/

Maybe they'll splinter along with the Empire. More religious diversity would be interesting (and might give you a reason to care about the religions).

Well a few provinces do secede, and there is a bit of conflict in attempting to restore them, but nothing along the lines of complete breakdown. Among the provinces that secede are Elsweyr and Black Marsh, which are not critical parts of the story but serve as a theme that looms above your head in parts of the book.

No, there's also the ones from MW Bloodmoon. About the Skall and their "Allmaker."
