You Have MK Tied to a Chair With a Gun to His Head...

There is a time and place for Socrates, and it's called College. In the real world cold hard answers are more gratifying and lead to less cases of insanity.
Well, the Aurbis is a gigantic case of insanity, so...

Oh, great topic. Cookie (печенька) to the opener. Or should it be the fish stick?

At least this topic isn't called something like "You Have MK Tied to a Gun With a Head to His Chair".

What would I ask him? All the same as earlier. Why he's not posting at forums. And where in the name of Lorkhan are Vehk, Hasphat Antabolis, Nu-Hatta, Jobasha and Fyr. Dwemer? No, I don't want to know more about dwemer. Maybe Amaranth? Maybe. Let us start and we'll see.

How come you guys didn't take into account that his explanations could potentially Mind Spork you and make you vulnerable to his suggestions afterwards?

Somehow I can see this as a likely scenario.
"Vivec is really.... TIBER SEPTIM!!!"
I think I would have both an immediate neural collapse and violent seizures...
And then I would be MK's braindead slave child... Which, all things considered, isn't all that bad.

One last thing, and I'll let you go: promise to collaborate with China Mieville on an Elder Scrolls game set in the Fifth Era.

I dunno if this is a joke, but -- well, MK once mentioned that he hates China Mieville to pieces. So yeah.

I think we would play Jenga for a while, and I would style some doodles of Vivec and Talos on each brick. Some kalpa nonsense, towers, and the like

As much as I love Mr. Kirkbride and want to find a surrogate so I can have his babies, there are other devs involved in the lore.

That said, I'd want him to do a Chris Avellone and write a comic book along the lines of All Roads. Perhaps something with Cyrus? :D

Another comic then! On Lorkhan's moon-bodies! With Dwemer space-colonies and comely Dreugh-princesses!

I'd thought that if they were aware of each other, they would either love each other's work or loathe it. In some ways, their styles strike me as similar: very dense, complex, and unsettling. Both present morally complex stories, but in different ways: in Mieville, there is always a definite right and wrong; the trouble is that that protagonists are usually faced with a choice of nightmares.

I just remembered what I'd say if I had MK tied to a chair and pointing a gun to his head! I'd make him finish that story he was going to do about Cyrus and Thras.

Well, Mieville de-mythologises nearly as relentlessly as MK mythologises, so that makes sense.

That sounds about right. Mieville's rather hostile to the concept of a "hero". His protagonists tend to be anti-heroes. In The Iron Council, there are two characters who are recognizably "heroes"; by virtue of their heroism, one renders himself irrelevant to his cause, and the other nearly destroys it.

Who would like to see how a (S)word-Meeting of MK and Mieville would go down?

If MK tries to cut the atomos, and Mieville parries with the possible sword, we'll all be blown into the next kalpa.

Michael Kirkbride called China Mieville "turgid, coat-tailing, [and] self-indulgent," as well as some less appropriate things, in a long post about his time at gamesas that cannot be linked here because of its language.
