Do you have what it takes?

I was just playing fallout and relized that my character is a totall bad***. And I mean he is super bad***. anyway I relized I would have a hard time walking strait out of a vault and right off the bat start chewing bubble gum and kicking ***. But I'm already a good shot from 20-30 yards and know how to survive for a while in the wilderness, so it might take a while but I might find a good place to live and I could definitely survive. So what I'm asking is in all honesty could you survive in the wasteland?

You do know if a nuculear appocolipse happend the world wouldn't be like that within a few days to a few weeks the army/govement would have came through and evacuated everyone to a safe place plus the most dangerous thing you'd encounter would be a guy with a rifle cause radiation dosent cause mutations

but if you mean in the game world I'd make it by joining the ncr and getting target practice on the legion

Well the goverment really won t have time to round people us. We d be lucky if they even told us.

Then if you re any where in the area of 90-120 miles of a 1mt war head impact for about 14 day chances are you will die. (1megaton is just little too)

Then if you do live you ll have to join up with some other people good or bad, because you won t make it on your own.

I think I would die if I didn t find some sort of armed group to join really fast.

you do know the modern tactical nuke has a yield in in the 100's of Kiloton range. Most average 400-600kt range (which makes up the majority of most stockpiles)
especially the M.I.R.V. ICBMs and Cruise missile types

still much larger than Hiroshima (15Kt) or Nagasaki (21Kt), no where near the Test Munitions Like the U.S.S.R.'s Tsar Bomba with a yield of 50Mt (the U.S.S.R.'s Largest test could have reached 100Mt had they used a Depleted Uranium tamper instead of lead) or the U.S.A.'s Castle Bravo device at 15Mt (the U.S.'s largest test). the largest Active service US Device was the B53 nuclear bomb at about the 9Mt range but is now currently out of active service.

to me a anything larger than 1 megaton is a waste. (actually all Nuclear weapons are a waste (of money and resources) ) they are too horrible to use. and an unused weapon is a useless weapon. use the materials and Money to Put that crap to good use. build a series of Tokamaks and actually spend money on research and Development. For the love of god get me Fusion power in my life time

Wow you have real faith in your government. If an all out nuclear [censored] storm ever happened there would be no government to help anyone. Worst thing you would encounter is a delirious painful vomiting death from the radation. It would be a couple decades when the radiation dies down, woud you have to worry about guys with guns.

If we are talking just Fallout. NCR would not be around yet. Do I have what it takes to survive? Maybe not but if I had a firearm, some water and some idea were there is a settlement, I would have a good start.

I fully expect I COULD survive in the Fallout universe...
If I took on the role of the Chosen One, or Lone Wanderer or otherwise, that might be a different story...
But look at how pitifully underarmed and incapable most of the NPCs in the games are (even some of the more powerful ones are quickly overwhelmed by a simple horde of Geckos or Fire Ants, right?) and loads of them seem to survive easily enough inside the boundaries of townships like Shady Sands or Goodsprings. Some are even living "Comfortable" lives inside Rivet City or Chitown...

Yes.
With enough 7.92x57 and Super Premium Gas, anything is possible for me.
