You'll know it when it happens auto fail, Yes Man. : Fallout: New Vegas

Hi guys. I have just finished the wild card: side bets quest line for Yes Man. I go to get the next quest and he tells me about the president. I want to save him, but I automatically fail the quest with the dialogue options of.

"I don't care what happens to the president."

"The NCR hate me, they won't let me within 1000 miles of the president."

My rep with the NCR is 'Soft hearted Devil.' They don't shoot at me on sight and I've done some quests for them. Is there anything I can do to change the quest? If I go and do some quests for the NCR, will I then be able to save the president?

On the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/You%27ll_Know_It_When_It_Happens#Notes it says:

It is possible to automatically and accidentally fail this quest before you take it. After you load Yes Man onto Mr. House's computer, speak to him and he will tell you that there is a chance of the President being assassinated. Strangely enough, there is no option to save the president later and any dialog box you choose will automatically cause you to fail the quest. If this occurs, revert to your last save and complete (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/For_the_Republic,_Part_2) before you continue on with any quest from Yes Man.

Well I'm way too far in to the Yes Man quest to do that.
