You know you are too much of a gamer when. . .

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:53 am

After an entire night of playing Morrowind, you wonder why there is information listed when sprawling over the items in your fridge.
After a long session of crazy taxi, you wonder why you are getting point for passing cars.
You fall asleep to the music of 8-bit Zelda playing in your head.

:P A game and a series are two different things. Granted I suppose it′s a bit of a given that the next one would be "The Elderscrolls V..." at least, the V giving the game its rightful title as a independent game. But there was still the 0.00001% chance that perhaps it would have been "TES IV,5" as some continuation of Oblivion, or something of that sort. And the added variable makes it so that I could not follow the specific game those 5 years but only the half year from the time it was confirmed to be "TES V".

Oh, and you know you are too much of a gamer when you feel IRL jumping range is underpowered and needs to be buffed.

When you're playing the 360 and messing around on the pc and try to move your mouse with the 360 controller. And then get mad because it's not working.

Happened to me yesterday...

On Xbox:

You know you're a gamer when, while playing L.A Noire, you press Y to call for your horse

(I did this today)

You know you're a gamer when you've been inside for a few days in a row and when you finally step outside it all feels kind of artificial

(I've also done this)

I know what you mean, I used to stay inside so much my eyes were never adjusted to sunlight. I could barely look up at the horizon without squinting. Also, sometimes the world outside can seem artificial.

When you′ve been following a game for[ s]half a year[/s] over fourteen years and it′s not even out yet.

;)

Although I haven't been, some people have been following DNF for that long.

Longest game I followed was Alan Wake, sixish years I think.

I do have video game stuff all over the place though.

When you try to sleep, you imagine the Guitar Hero dots moving down to any song you have in your head, even ones that aren't in the game.

When you call black people redguards.

When you start to think of weeds on lawns as Green Herbs and red leafs as Red Herbs.

When you say, "Darn, this cost 20 Gold Coi- I mean dollars."

You wake up in the middle of the night, only to see yourself in a major bustling MMO town hub and think to yourself "god, I wish all these noobs would stop spamming so I can get some sleep", and not even realizing how absurd this notion is until the next morning. I had this happen to me a few years back in the depths of my Runescape binge, it was a very odd experience. What still gets me is how lifelike (despite being blocky java graphics  ) and believable the scenario was to me at the time. It completely blended in with my reality of being stuck in bed and awake. I still have this happen sometimes, but it's not so bad. It can be kind of fun watching the cartoons on the wall, especially when sleep isn't coming anytime soon... <3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia.

when you realize your curtains haven't been opened since they were hung in place.

when the couch, the coffee table and the wide screen plasma tv are the only furniture you own, or care about.

when your ashtray has a higher summit than the Matterhorn.

you refuse to eat anything that isn't delivered to your doorstep preheated and cooked.

when the whole discussion between xbox and ps3 is irrelevant, because you play monopoly.

When you are cleaning up the next morning after a party...

and you catch yourself staring a little bit too long at a couple of bottlecaps in a pile on the table, feeling like you don't want to throw them away.

I played Monopoly last week. Got more playtime out of a $12 board game than you do a $60 video game, and that was just one sitting (in which no one actually won, might I add. We quit because it was getting too late).
