Do you like Crysis 2’s current HUD?

i think its just a question of getting used to, after you play for a while the only thing you will need is radar/map and crosshair, at least in CW that were the only things i was concerned about and crosshair wasnt even needed cause of laser

Didn't they say in the Central Station commentary that the energy bar practically IS your health bar?

But there is still that bit of health that is not part of the energy bar. If you're in a fight and jump up on a roof for some cover so that the energy bar is empty you don't know if you have 10 or 90 health left. You don't know if you should run away and recover or jump back into the fight and try to take the them by surprise. If you have 10 health and jump back in your dead instantly but if you have 90 it'll take a couple more bullets to kill you and you might win the fight.

i think its just a question of getting used to, after you play for a while the only thing you will need is radar/map and crosshair, at least in CW that were the only things i was concerned about and crosshair wasnt even needed cause of laser
cross-hairs and mini-map are all that you need but a health bar is extremely useful for the scenario above. Its the difference between blind luck and skill.

Hmm, I just looked at it again, yes, there's no health bar, but I do believe that it's in the same position as the energy. Also, I've just looked closely at the HUD, so here's what I think:

Image

Look were it says "88%". It's colour is white, completely white. Where it shows "Energy" the bar is also white. Both correspond with one another. 88% (Or 90% to be approximate) is two of those uncoloured rectangles.

I believe that below it is the health bar, since the picture shows the player has enabled "ARMR". It is said with Armour mode enabled, you will be invincible for a few seconds or so, so I'm guessing for that amount of few seconds the "Energy" bar will be shown, until it runs out.

Or that "88%" is your health, which is, to be precise, not a good idea, since it's very small to see.

But if the Armour mode is a default mode like Crysis 1, then it completely destroys what I've said above. But I still like it, but I need to play the game in order to understand the HUD.

But for all I know, they did show the HUD in preview pictures of Crysis 1, and those changed slightly. This may not be the final version.

The HUD needs a health bar and less head bob to it before I give it my stamp of approval.

I think the HUD in Crysis 2 is a significant step forward. It's clean, it's precisely what a HUD needs to be in a FPS. It's not cluttered with useless textures, blurry or vague shapes. It's strict, clean and beautiful. And so is the hit detection. From what I've seen so far, at least.

Not to mention, it feels closer to your face/head gear than before. So far....

what i think about the energy bar on this new hud is this, you can only measure the amount of energy the nanosuit as left, once you lose your energy you will lose life and you will only get an idea of how much life you lost by the amount of red/blur/whatever on the screen, it would also be logical if it was this way, at least in terms of 'realness' cause there isnt and never will be some kind of futuristic device that you put up your ass and tells you how much life you still have...
and of course you could understand very well if you have 90% life or only 10% like in any game, thats why imo you dont need a life bar

I'm amazed to see that many people actually like the HUD. But hey, I guess each one to their own...

I for one honestly don't like it. It does look clean and practical yes, but also dull and boring at the same time. How can the Nanosuit 2 be so beautiful but the HUD so un-inspirational? :/

i think it looks pretty cool, because they made it really look like its a hologram projected onto your visor. if you dont know what im talking about, look at gameplay videos, youll notice the hud shakes a lot when you walk even though you are not

And there lies the problem. We are walking, not having a seizure.

You must admit that even the 'immersiveness' is quite overdone. And maybe if this was a normal helmet, I would be more inclined to believe that is how much a HUD really should move. But it isn't.

The head bob is quite rediculous, it needs to be toned down quite a bit.

Its a SKIN TIGHT nanosuit, the HUD should not be jolting around so much when you are walking... When you are sprinting I understand a head bob of some sort, but a slow walk should not induce my HUD to go into Maximum Seizure.

Also, agree with that fact... immersion over blockish-ness.....

I game should have head bob, its far more realistic. A game without it just feels... dead.

I do not see head bob in this multiplayer trailer. It only moves when you jump. But the HUD zooming looks weird.

I like how it definitely looks like an HUD should, like you are behind a mask. The curved perspective. But it doesn't seem all that easy to quickly get the information you need. (ie Crysis 1 had a bar to visually show you your vitals)

put on a nanosuit and find out for yourself
