DO you like FNV?

Apart the bugs , wich actually I haven't found many , very few actually ....
But I am kind of disappointed by the general look of the game locations ...

To me the detail placed is qay less compared to the Fallout game ...

The atmosphere is kind of lame and most of the stuff is recycled content from Fallout wich I think doesn't really fit in this new setting ...

Plus the Desert area looks poorly done and not really gives the impression of a majestic desert and so on ...

I woul dhave expected more something on the lines of Red Dead Redemption Desert eventually than this hilly land with some cactuses around ...

Plus also New vegas itself fails to give any "feel" of wonder ....

Overall the game seems pretty boring , more enphasis on the details of the conversation that at some times they become too long to me and I just skip them to arrive to the point and very few details on the overall look ....

I found somehow much more appealing a DLC of Fallout like The Pitt or othewrs that actually added much more content ....

To be brutally honest, I wasn't enjoying it at all at first. Kind of "oh hum... is this it... ".

That all changed when I got to Freeside, and the game suddenly kicked in to a whole new level. Now I think... "wow, f****g awesome!"

Keep at it :fallout:

Do not agree.

The atmosphere is kind of lame and most of the stuff is recycled content from Fallout wich I think doesn't really fit in this new setting

Plus the Desert area looks poorly done and not really gives the impression of a majestic desert and so on

have you been to a desert? They not not majestic. Its a very harsh and hot place.

Again, do not agree. atmosphere "feels" fine to me. Why would the mid west be radically different in terms of building and technology over the C.W?

I would have expected more something on the lines of Red Dead Redemption Desert eventually than this hilly land with some cactus's around

Nukes likely destroyed/damaged most/all of the plant life. Even if they did not directly hit N.V. Thats why there are so few plants, take in that these people need food, and these plants provide. Even less plans.

Plus also New vegas itself fails to give any "feel" of wonder

Do not agree, that is your own fault or opinion, I find it a very good game.

Sorry that you do not like it, I think it is a wonderful game. Like Morrowind. See that game didn't hold you're hand, you could go out and get in way over your head, or follow the main quest.
Lots of areas where "useless" but its ok, because back then you didn't need the game to hold your hand and tell you who, what, when and why about every little location.
People had this neat thing called "imagination" where we could make up our own stories and what happened here. We didn't need a note to tell us that the guy laying dead on the floor was killed by the hostile assassin in the room.

This game is (much like morrowind) what you make of it. It contains plenty of greatness, but you have to go find it.

STOP expecting the game to hold that hand.

Well apart from all its flaws I still think its a good game

The amount of complaints I hear seem to be to many and they just want a "better game" overrall.

I am enjoying the game. The plot seems to be a little more detailed and indepth. The game seems harder then the original Fallout which is welcome. I am glad I purchased it.

But.....

They had two years since the release of Fallout 3 to upgrade some a lot of things and they chose not too. That is my only complaint. It's rather vague but those who played both games recognize what I am talking about.

and the facial animations are much better at least on my PC at ultra settings.

All those great feelings of leaving the vault soon rushed in as I exited the Docs house. So yes, I really like it.

Of course, it will be a whole new experience as soon as I do a hardcoe playthrough later.

Love the voice acting, they are believable characters and I know some has to have had the same voice actor but I have yet to hear the same voice from two people.
In FO3 almost every old guy and old woman had the same voice actor.
So I love the voice acting.

I love the setting, finally it feels like Fallout again.
No more rubble and brown hills and green tint.
But a full blown desert!

I love that they removed the dungeons.
Sure, dungeons was one of the things which gave us so many gameplay hours but still, it feels better.
To know that once I find a house it's just a house is relieving.
In FO3 just about every place had to have a 15 to 30 minute dungeon...
It feels... Realistic somehow...

I love the faction system.
While the game being completely [censored] biased towards NCR it's still nice to know I can choose my sides.

I love dress-up! And Jessup! (Disguising and the character Jessup. :D )

I love Damage Threshold.
Stuff can actually kill me this time around.
I've died tons of times and I play on Normal. :D

I love that companions feel like real peopl.

I love that Settlements make sense.

I love that there is such a huge quantity of quests with such quality to them.

I hate that they nerfed Energy Weapons.

I hate that there isn't enough side quests for Legion.

I hate that Energy Weapons actually only got 1 new gun.
To explain.
Tesla Cannon and Gauss Rifle are from FO3, not new.
Plasma Caster is from FO1 and FO2, not new.
Multiplas Rifle is just Plasma Rifle with two more needles at the tip, not really that new.
The only weapon I can call "new" is Plasma Defender, but if I remember correctly it is the old design of the Plasma Pistol from the old games.

I hate that even though I kill NCR over and over and over and over they still wouldn't shoot me on sight.
They only started once I killed their ambassador on the strip.

I hate that Rangers only come after me once.

I hate that not enough factions send their own "hitmen/bounty hunters/assassins" after me.

I hate that settlements can respawn after I slaughter them.

I hate that there isn't a good variation from enemies in weaponry.
The only people who use missile launchers as far as I've seen are Boomers and they are secluded to their base and don't traverse over the wasteland.
And almost no generic NPC's use energy weapons.
Fiend use RCW and Plasma Rifle and BOS use a wide variety but BOS are like Boomers secluded to their base.

I hate that the game is so overly biased towards NCR.

I was thinking "oh, this isn't good at all, they changed too much and it's horrid"... I am so glad I stuck with it. I don't notice the difference in levelling now (less perks and all), in fact, it's better with less perks ! And as soon as you get companions (for me, Boone and ED-E) it makes the game a lot more fun. The land is filled with creatures that pose a challenge for you, and the XP pay out is well worth it in most cases. I haven't been to New Vegas yet and I have been playing for five days now. Been enjoying exploring the land too much, and would like to be at least high in stats by the time I reach the main city. It's not necessary, but I love looking around and getting picked apart by Golden Gecko's now :whistling:

My verdict so far is: Excellent!

In my 60 or so hours so far I've found bugs, glitches and crashes that can be count with fingers of one hand. No complaints in that regard.

To me, the game is lacking in it's gameplay. Too little changes in combat (skills still not nearly as worthy/impactful as I expected with the soft requirements). The general design from Fallout 3 (and Oblivion before it) is starting to stagnate - it's the same all over again for the third time already. Most of things looking exactly like Fallout 3 makes the visual style boring, which affects the gameplay (not talking about graphical quality, just that the overall look feels a bit too much "already seen"). The main course still a bit too easy even on hard with hardcoe. Exploring still uninspired (though not quite as much as in Fallout 3). What little was changes from F3 gameplaywise, wasn't really enough for me to applaud.

But where the game shines is the characters, questdesign and general writing. Rarely these days does one come across a game that has so well fleshed out overall writing. The characters and factions are interesting and believable (for the most part) with their backgrounds and motives; the quests usually have more than one way of overcoming them; the choices I make matter; and the overall setting feels well polished and thought out. It is hard to ignore the lackings of general gameplay, but the writing (which seems to be the driving force of this game) makes it much, much easier. Not to mention the improvements to the voiceacting - the character don't sound like they were reading their lines from paper anymore and it makes them much more lively and natural.

If the gameplay was a bit less... well, FPS, and more RPG (regarding combat and importance of skills) I wouldn't know what to criticise.

Here is my main "beef" with the game. It feels like oblivion...which i liked but not as much as Fo3. The small similarities like crafting and picking flowers aren't a big deal, and even to some extent enjoyable and viable. However, the main issue lies in the factions. Yea, it was a great idea - joinable factions...but i liked overall karma much better and the most annoying thing is (just like in oblivion) I am doing mindless erands for the factions rather than doing cool exploration like in Fo3. I just dont' feel like any of the questing is very fun...

I love it equally to F03, both are great places, great characters and all the ohter good parts of FO3 have remained, but thrown in are a variety of new enemies, guns and the different ammot types makes it a much more fun game. Trust me from my perspective, where i didnt look at any pre release footage, news or pics, this is amazing.

And im sure there are more surpirses i havent found. (oh thats reminds me the story is better! Morals arent painted just plain good and evil, both sides are good.)

really? I think the game looks better than FO-3 did, how is that fail?

Morrowind and FO N.V have more in common then any other thing I can think of. Oblivion hand held you like Fo-3 did.

New Vegas is to Fallout 3 as Morrowind is to Oblivion. Fallout 3 was great, but overall I'm enjoying New Vegas more. I'm actually having to think about what I want to do, what the potential outcomes are. My choices actually matter in New Vegas, FO3 felt extremely liner in comparison. The new combat, while similar to FO3, is better in every way. The simple addition of iron sights and better weapon balancing (ie, there are no useless weapons) is a godsend. The levelled world is so much better than player scaling too. While I miss DC, I actually feel that the Mojave is more "real" becuase it is what it is, it doesn't spawn enemies based on you, it'll give you what's there whatever level you are.

I do.

At first I was disappointed that the series did not really moved forward with this title, but when I get up from playing I'm thinking "that was a lot of fun", and the next day at work i'm thinking about my character and what i'll do next etc.

So even with the bugs (im one of the lucky ones who really only had one) and all, i'm having fun, so i like the game and it's worth the money i put on it, these are basically my only criteria for a game.

I like it quite a bit, your actions feel like they have more of an actual impact on the game world due to factions and I think the condensed layout is better than FO3 sticking locations in the far corners. In NV I've never just set myself on autorun in the general direction of a location, because theres always ambushes popping out from behind buildings and billboards, or NPCs to interact with on the way, while in FO3 if I couldn't auto-travel I was in for a long, uneventful run through a big gray field with maybe a random mole-rat or yao-guai. The voice acting is leaps and bounds above FO3 and Oblivion, though the music in this game is a little tiresome. Combat AI still kinda svcks, and there's a few major glitches (had to enable, disable several NPCs through the console to be able to continue my play). The landscapes are a little dry, though the strip and hoover dam are pretty badass, there's no where near the almost cinematic feel that Oblivion put forth, which has never been duplicated in another game imo.

However, all that said, its still super early in the game's life and I think after some patching and modding NV will svck just as many hours from my life as FO3, though probably not as many as Oblivion :P
