Do you like Happy Meals?

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 10:06 pm

I read this last night. I think this is a stupid decision. The way people eat isn't up to the government. They can suggest healthier lifestyles, but enforcing them like this is ridiculous.

EDIT: This may get a bit political, though...

This.

If parents didn't seem to have a hard time at properly educating and providing proper nutrition so often, maybe such actions wouldn't be necessary. Also, no, I don't like happy meals, or McDonald's. A generation being raised on fast food disgusts me. I don't mean to offend anyone here if they believe differently, but that's merely my opinion. I don't outright support the government's intervention on free choices and, normally, I oppose such intervention, but I despise utter disregard for the health of others, and yes, one's children are others.

Basically, they banned giving away toys with meals that contain an excess of calories. What do you guys think?

I can understand why they would do it, but I think it should really come down to the parents just learning to say no to the kids

:lmao:
That will never happen. The general populace is so ignorant and self indulgent that we actually need these kinds of stupid common sense initiatives to become law. All fast food is crap that should never be consumed, and for the love of god should never be encouraged to be given to children. McDonald's (and the rest of their ilk) shallow ploy to promote "healthy" fast food is a laughable last ditch effort to save face. I'll be happy when all their fat corporate asses are bankrupt.

this, although some moderation is what I would rather see encouraged

As you said, though, the general populace is ignorant and self-indulgant, so I guess moderation would be an impossible thing to teach.

And this will quite possibly decrease McDonald's sales which would hurt their total revenue, thus not drawing in as many foreign and national investments. Considering McDonald's is a massive job creator.

This has gotten too political and being one of the ones who minutely contributed to that, I fear it going any further down that political path. I am therefore closing it for being just a bit too over the political radar.
