If you're going along with the type of society the fiction presents, good show, since the Waterfront does seem to ring with dikeensian poverty, which would often include a booming back-alley abortionist/pimp trade. It fits the darker, gritter feel of the lore's social history.

Profession: Subsistence farmer and Hunter. Experimental Alchemist.

I would grow Carrots, onions, garlic, strawberries, tobacco, lettuce and many other crops. I would have two or three sheep in a pen outside my shack as well. Often, I would go hunting with my bow and gathering unique ingredients. If there is more than enough to feed myself and perhaps my neighbors, I will venture into town and sell what I have left over. The money could be used for new clothing, pottery, or weapons.

EDIT: I am also an avid skooma addict. My shanty town will be a commune that I lead. If the unfortunate event occurs that I run out of money for my skooma habit, I will sell one of the village's children into the slave trade.
