First thing I am going to do is decide if I like having two weapons at a time. If I do then I will do two axes. If I don't then I will use a sword and a shield. The magic is very very interesting though so I might do that. Then again, bows are very powerful now and stealthy characters will be awesome as hell. But then I might want to make an Argonian or Khajiit that uses spears... Skyrim will surely be the best game yet!
well my first character is going to be a nord so i have to use a shield/axe setup with minimum magic and maximum mead reinforced carnage. after that though i will use polearms for melee and mostly bow and arrow.
thankyou for informing me about the polearms... now we just need to convince them to bring back crossbows and projectiles (A.K.A throwing knives, shriukens,)
First playthrough will be dual swords as this is the first time we'll be able to do so without mods (and even then it was never true dual wielding) :celebration: :toughninja:
Why are shortswords missing from this list? You should have either included them or left longsword as sword. We know the difference between claymores, daggers, and other swords.
@Liu Bei: OP completely left out shortswords. A mixed melee and other option would be helpful. Multiple choice would also be good.
I will be using a short/ long sword with a shield, because shields are actually useful now.
Shields have always been useful. Blocking was impossible without one in Morrowind, and there was nothing else for that slot in Oblivion. I'd say that if anything, they have lost utility. I presume Bethesda is making up for it somehow.
Swords are my favorite type of weapons, always have been. Dual Wield is my most favorite, and in my opinion, the coolest looking fighting style in any medieval-type game, always will be.
I'm usually a longsword, bow, dagger, and magic type person. So I'm typically a magician, dual swords sounds pretty awesome. But I'll still probably go with my usual longsword, bow, dagger, and magic assassin like tactics.
