You main weapon type

Axe and shield, but would use spear also if they include that.

And why no shortswords?

Sorry about that.
In this poll only, dagger = shortsword. They were treated as the same weapon type in Morrowind.

A mix, which does not appear to be an option. I will (if it works) go with a Breton who softens things up with a bow, switching to a longsword/shield pairing when things get too close. Magic will be ready for any opening either at range or close.

Not voting because I can't vote for more than one thing.

I said in the first post I was only interested in your main weapon that you'll use for regular encounters. It's fine if you use other weapons for special tactics or irregular tasks. I myself chose Longsword even though I'll also dual wield swords and use both hands for magic at times.

There is no "None- dragon shout only" option.

So you'll start out being completely defenseless, wearing only armor and running away or sneaking around any opponent until you get your first damaging dragon-shout? :) You've got balls, I'll give you that...

Swords are my favorite type of weapons, always have been. Dual Wield is my most favorite, and in my opinion, the coolest looking fighting style in any medieval-type game, always will be.

Ironically, noone used them like that in medieval Europe. ;)

Staff?

I'm assuming that it will be treated as a polearm, just like spears.

As for the sword & dagger dual wields etc., I doubt it will be as practical as dual wielding the same weapon type, in which case you need fewer perks to get the most out of both weapons :spotted owl: . I'd add the option, but I don't want the erase the results just for the sake of it.

I'm going with dual daggers, I think. And a bow on the side.
I hope I'll be able to play a proper assassin.

I'm going to a hand to hand/pure magic character. Breton, ofc.

I'm vouching for warhammers! There's nothing like smashing someone and watch as they die from internal injuries.
I like axes as well but the results gets rather messy most of the time.

Note: I'm not homicidal, really!

Axe/Shield.

No, wait...

Two-handed axe.

Nah, not there yet...

Sword+spell.

Almost there!

Bow + dual-wield.
Aw hell no.

Honestly, I have no idea. It's too hard!!

The bow is my main weapon. I enjoyed the bow in Oblivion a lot, and now it's improved  many people in Skyrim will die in one shot and won't even know what hit them.

I plan on going with the biggest longsword possible (pushing the line between longsword and claymore) for the most part, but if the duel wield mechanic works out well I'll switch to that occasionally, using duel longswords.

A cool longsword. Weeo.

And finally it sounds like we can dual-wield, and even fight with the left hand. :)

So far Longsword is undisputed number one, followed by Bows/Crossbows as a close second. Third place is evenly split among Polearms, Pure mage and Dual swords.

Strange, didn't expect so few claymore-users.

I always use two-handed swords as my main weapon.
Accompanied with a bow, and spells :)

I'm going for the traditional sword and shield for my Nord warrior. For the Dunmer mage I will just go pure mage, with possibly a dagger (I'm not a fan of staffs). Finally, the Argonian assassin will dual wield daggers (or maybe a shortsword and a dagger).

If anyone was wondering, my reasoning for a single dagger was so that I have to carry less weight. I will be a thief/assassin so I can on carrying a lot of loot, so I don't want to be weighed down. And I would imagine that dual-wield will have a penalty of some sort. And I might use a short sword for head-on combat when needed. And maybe a bow, but probably not.

i voted dual long sword but i would use dual short sword. you should really add that as an option :hubbahubba:

also off set. meaning longs sword and short sword or short sword and dagger or mace and sword or ax and sword.

I hope they've made daggers more useful. I would really love a character to be able to duel wield daggers effectively. I mean a throat is a throat.. they usually aren't armored.. get in quick and you should be able to make an effective and deadly attack. No sneak bonus required.
So that's what I'd like.. duel wield daggers, alt-sniper with bow and arrow or crossbow and bolt if it's been added.

I tend to always go for the longsword, since they got the best selection etc. This time, however, I'll definitely go with a one-handed axe (bleeding damage!) and a shield in the other. I will also carry a bow for some ranged combat and restoration magic for before/after the battles! Hopefully this time they'll improve the feeling of the different weapon styles, so it really feels like you're hitting someone with a mace or an axe. Apart from the low amount of good blunt weapons, this has been the main reason why I don't use them so much.

If they make Daggers awesome like they claim I will use them. Dagger in one hand and a spell(s) in the other. For my first, and primary character. Dunmer Assassin/lore-master. I'm hoping Mehrune's Razor is in the game. It was my faithful friend in both Morrowind and Oblivion.

Second character will be very hard to decide. He will most likely be a Orc or Nord, and use the good ol' sword and board method. Third character will either be a Argonian or a Dunmer again, primarily a spellcaster. I can't wait! :D

Dual daggers. Because backstabbing is fun, and one dagger in each hand looks cooler than a single one.
