Anyway, did the Altmer not get Orichalc, another active tower?

Orichalc was in Yukuda, and was destroyed alongside it.

They are still fighting Numidium. I'd imagine that controlling the white gold would give them the power to triumph and unmake Numidium. But then again, the aldmeri dominion is reformed, and they're re-affirmed their hegemony over southern Tamriel, so perhaps they did roll back time in a matter of speaking.

I'll put forth a wary guess and say they defeated Numidium just before they started their aggression. When the moons disappeared.

Khajiit was the only still-active tower they controlled. Dagon destroyed Crystal, White was deactivated and Tree-Sap "stopped moving."

So let me get this straight:

Crystal: Destroyed
Tree-Sap: Deactivated
Orchalc: Destroyed
White-Gold: Deactivated
Walk-Brass: finally destroyed?
Khajiit: moons disappeared/reappeared, so who knows what happened there.
Snow-Throat: Active

Bound to have a few mythic effects.

Frankly, crossing my fingers for a Nordic Empire. Probably shouldn't hold my breath though (still an open question whether Martin now counts as a 'Tower' in the broader, common sense, which could also have effects).

EDIT: Just caught this; Walk-Brass is still (vaguely) online.

"The Surrender of Alinor happened in one hour, but Numidium's siege lasted from the Mythic Era until long into the Fifth. Some Mirror Logicians of the Altmer fight it still in chrysalis shells that phase in and out of Tamrielic Prime." - MK

Personally, I wish we could lead the Dragonborn on a crusade to murder every altmer in Tamriel, sell the summerset isles to the sload, and the use all the altmer souls as the power supply for an electrical grid.

Don't forget to throw us necromancers a bone, and by bone I mean lots of altmer bodies to dissect. Also altmer bones too, heard they sell well in the black market.

I happen to love the irony that the group least inclined towards god-logic (unless if you are a Greybeard, perhaps) ended up with, likely, the only operational Tower.

"Pelinal cared for none of this and killed any who would speak god-logic, except for fair Perrif, who he said, 'enacts, rather than talks, as language without exertion is dead witness.'" - Song of Pelinal

Enacting rather than talking, indeed.

Whats the chance that Snow-throat gets destroyed at the end of skyrim's main quest? Then we'd be left with only walk-brass and the Ur-tower.

1. Enter Whiterun castle. (Dragonsreach)

2. Go to the back of the hall up the stairs. (Jarls Quarters and planning.)

3. Find the book cases behind the war map.

4. Find the book entitled: "The Great War"

Wow, the High Elves really took over the southern empire, didn't they? Horay for the Altmer!!! :celebration:

Could you clarify? Maybe I'm thinking about this too hard, but are you saying that the destruction/inactivation of the Towers made Alduin hungry for World again?

By the way do you know of anything in the lore, obscure or not that implicates mortals of consciously or subconsciously wishing to destroy Mundus, seeing as how each Tower is blinking out. Or maybe Aurbis is committing suicide or tearing itself in half like so many beings since the first Anu/Padomay conflict.

In any case, all the Tower events are in the prophecy of Alduin's Wall.

And Nirn has always been an unstable, "impossible" construct.

Edit: Why do we think Walkbrass still exists? It's lost both its Stone and its surrogate Stone, and been physically demolished, which was enough for Crystal-Like-Law.

But what happened to the other 7 of Brass God?

Walk-Brass no longer exists in Tamriel, but because it was such a large force of power its very existence caused ripples throughout all realities. Also nothing can truly be destroyed; just shifted from one form of matter and energy to another, so Numidium was only cast from one form of being to another.

Namely, a non-Numidium form of matter...

So I'm somewhat confused, why would the Thalmor want the Stormcloak rebellion crushed? It seems to me that anything that weakens the Empire is good for the Dominion, and losing Skyrim would be a huge blow to Empire militarily and economically.

Mythically speaking, the principle threat of the Stormcloaks is that they allow free Talos worship. If they take over Skyrim, that would be an entire region of the contient that is freely worshipping Talos. On a military level, a successful stormcloak rebellion would mean that a mannish military force is independent of THalmor machinations and growing stronger. ON a political level, the stormcloaks could press the Empire to reform itself, or might establish a new coalition in the north that is opposed to the Thalmor. The Dominion might not like the Empire, but they still need the Empire's boots on the ground in order to control the area and repress talos worship. They probably don't have the merpower to control the continent.

The mythic angle makes sense to me but the military or political. As was shown in the great war the Thalmor successfully drove a wedge between Hammerfell and the Empire that remains to this day. I just can't see a lasting alliance being formed between a free Skyrim and the Empire they just seceded from. Also the Aldmeri probably would have won the great war outright if not for nordic reinforcements arriving at the right moment. If the Thalmor are truly playing the long game it would make more sense to cut the Empire off from Skyrim, destroy the Empire outright and THEN deal with the Talos worshiping nords

Spoiler
they don't. Sure, they don't want it to succeed, but they also don't want it crushed

Not an alliance. I never said alliance. What the stormcloaks could forge is an anti-dominion coalition with anti-imperial neighbors, as most people hate the dominion, but only some like the Empire. They could also pressure the Empire to reform itself, once their military was strong enough to descend the jeralls.

They might have been able to win the great war outright, but that doesn't mean they could control all of the Empire's territory. Putting off dealing with the Nords means that you are leaving the Jarls unharmed while you waste lives with the Empire. By convincing the Empire to enforce its policies in Skyrim, it ensures that Talos worship is on the path to being stamped out. Had the nords never been involved with the great war, and the THalmor destroyed the Empire, The nords would be in the perfect position to sweep out and crush the Thalmor occupation forces in Cyrodiil, High Rock, and Hammerfell, while the Thalmor would be spread too thin and too battle-weary to put up much of a defense.

I never said that they should try to hold the Empire's territory, considering that the overall goal of the Thalmor is to bring about the return of the mythic age and eliminate men a scorched earth policy would have been the way to go.

Also what anti imperial neighbors would the nords be forming this coalition with? The Dunmer are in no position to aid anyone militarily and even so they'd likely side with the Dominion and Highrock is still a member of the Empire.

Local rulers of High Rock, Hammerfell, and even Colovia with a grudge against the Empire. Kings, Queens, and Counts whose rebellious fire can be stoked.

And why on earth would the Dunmer side with the Thalmor? They have very little in common.
