You need to balance the factions asap

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 11:57 am

Atm aldmeri in pst is hugely overpopulated , then is eh and last is Dc.

Having played daoc (and knowing that the lead dev here was also in that game which they had an interesting mechanics for balancing the population) i suggest they should do something similar.

For instance DC should get an 20% increase in xp , gold and alliance buffs compare to aldmeri or something along the lines.

I could get a screen and post right now and see how hugely impalance the population is or you can just look it up on twitch. Everything is yellow and playing something else apart aldmeri isnt fun.

Devs need to do something to balance the population before is too late.

I'm really surprised. I assumed EP would be the runaway favorite due to Skyrim fans of Nords and fans of Dark Elves from many different works in fantasy games and literature.

And yet this past w/e I believe we (the AD) had the least amount of resources and keeps in Cyrodiil. I prefer magic built characters so High Elves seemed logical.

All depends on your campaign. And since each one has a cap on the number if players by side it is balanced.

Most thought nords and EH will be the most populated but the zerg of aldmeri is ridiculous. also the jump badwagon effect is strong in this game . New players sees whos winning and they all join this faction.

the dominion is popular in Beta due to the quests supposedly being more lumped together and quicker to get to 10 to PvP. If you are going by character bonuses the dominion guys are technically at a disadvantage due to the lack of a true tank. But we all know that with the overcharging the bonuses at end game will mean little. Hopefully they will prevent multiple chars per account on campaigns and that will limit the side switching.

Plus from what I saw via the bars they had most campaigns were balanced form the most part. My guess is that your campaign was balanced more then you think but perhaps you were not on the right timezone. so maybe your alliance was more eu or vice versa as the euros were on this beta as well.

I thought so too to be honest. I made an Altmer because i like their high and mighty attitude and magicka racial.

i was sure that nord(skyrim) and dunmer(morrowind) would be prefered.

I hope people that spread that rumor (angry joe) will make an update. He was right when he told it at first but now that people start in their starting town, it doesnt matter anymore.

Let's revisit this when the game goes live. I think it's to early to tell right now.

Maybe they could implement a welcome-gift for new characters, in form of money. If some faction gets overpowered, then new characters made into other factions would get like 500g starting money, while overpowered gets only maybe 30g? It would balance some of the starting characters.

The problem with this is that you can't join a campaign that is capped and if every campaign starts off with Dominion having a huge numbers advantage then it becomes a major issue.

I believe there already are balancing mechanisms. Like, if AD dominates, then both EP and DC get bonus points for attacking AD keeps (but not each others keeps). There was more i just can't recall the details right now.

The caps are per-faction. You cannot fill all campaign spots with one alliance.

Balance in beta? lol

New DC players couldn't get off of the starter island due to a main quest line bug and you wonder why AD out numbered them?

You forget the world's obsession with cats.

And the only thing people love more than dark elves are high elves and wood elves.

well as stated before, the fact that people can side switch right now is an issue. On our campaign the EH leads in points but the AD make a huge effort and took 2 EH scrolls right before beta ended. Does that make AD overbalanced? no it means AD made a huge push for the time being. The day before the map was not in AD's favor at all. I cant speak for your campaign but they are 90 days for a reason, I would guess that take out side switching and you will see more of a balanced campaign over a 90 day period.

I think DC population will grow once the quest bugs are gone. With the current build, the quests there are so buggy, it can be nuts trying to reach level 10.

Plus we have people like Angry Joe to thank, who pretty much told everyone they should join AD, in his review.

Isn't it a bit early for a demand like this? I mean ... early access is still weeks away.
