////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

These 2 steps the game a little better visually.

And all PC users, we realized that Crysis 2 is a console game. But after researching for many places, I found 2 things for me quite improved graphic quality of the game from a little disappointing to something more "acceptable. "

The first was to import some textures from some of the previous Crysis (I use Crysis 1).
Explained here: http://crymod.com/thread.php?postid=786532#post786532

Then use a autoexec.cfg file generator.
Enter: http://cell-systems.net/cfg-maker/client-cfg-maker/create-crysis2%E2%80%9D-autoexec-cfg/

OR, more easy now, download the v.2 "autoexec.cfg" with all values ??to the maximum possible for now.: http://www.mediafire.com/?2xodja4gtqkrdph

"The new result is very good" More realistic lighting, good shadows, improved distances, etc..

Something like this (1920x1080):

http://i.imgur.com/XJN6r.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/YLEpd.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/gYftS.jpg

Over 48 FPS (1920x1080) on a MSI Nvidia GTX580 VGA.

Additionally, if your monitor or TV have Sharpen tech, increasing slightly the value will be very good.
If you do not have that option I give an alternative to make them look sharper textures.

First, Crysis 2 uses MSAA to smooth lines (contours). MSAA to be on the lines are improved but everything looks more blurred. then you can do is turn off MSAA and the lines will lose the effect but will not look so blurry.

Example:

Whit MSAA (look in the file autoexec.cfg "r_PostMSAA = 4")

http://i.imgur.com/RlZ2R.jpg

And without MSAA (change in the autoexec.cfg file: "r_PostMSAA = 0 ")

http://i.imgur.com/aJmIF.jpg

If you want to disable MSAA, open autoexec.cfg with Notepad and the line "r_PostMSAA = 4" change the value to "0. "

Good luck.

PICTURES! Before and AFTER! Please!

I can see a difference but you failed on one part. Bloom and HDR is overkill. I'd lower it to level 3 or 2 that is if you don't know how.

Are there any bugs? Like sliding and you see ghosting in the background?

//////

So is the link to create your own configuration: http://cell-systems.net/cfg-maker/client-cfg-maker/create-crysis2%E2%80%9D-autoexec-cfg/

You can customize the graphics to the max!

PS: First I thought the same of Bloom, but the game felt pretty good.

With respect to the before and after the textures:

Before. Crysis 2: http://vghq.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Crysis-2-Texture.jpg

After. Crysis 1 texture (in Crysis 2): http://vghq.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Crysis-2-Texture-2.jpg

http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=67740&threadview=0&hilight=&hilightuser=0&page=1

And when you change the cfg file, greatly enhance the shadows, distance and lighting.

*** And I have not had bugs with the changes. I think the line has changed to the bloom and HDR are "r_HDRBloomMul = 0.7" and "r_HDRBrightLevel = 0.85. Them down to 0.5 or 0.4 should decrease rather both effects

@pcnuttie

If confirmed, you can customize the effect in these lines:
"r_HDRBloomMul = 0.7" and "r_HDRBrightLevel = 0.85.

With 0.7 and 0.85 each is as follows: http://i.imgur.com/Hddlo.jpg

With 0.3 and 0.3 each one is as follows: http://i.imgur.com/lR10F.jpg

Maybe 0.5 for both is the most appropriate.

Anyway, everyone wants to choose what best :-p

Tried the Textures.pak from Crysis1. I used winmerge to compare both folders found only few were changed. You'll know it when you see something like "Files are not the same" then you'll just righ click on all those files and copy it to the left (assuming left is your crysis2 texture folder).

Also you need to do the same with Shaders and CryEngine3 asset files if you want to convert most if not all textures used by Crysis1 to Crysis2.

I only tried Textures.pak it worked. I got tired copying object textures from Engine it was like 2GB files but yeah I confirm that Engine assets and textures used in Crysis1 are every much compatible in CryEngine3.

But still I would be happy if the Crytek guys do these stuffs for us.

In Crysis 2 folder ( x:/........../Crysis2)

The default installation is at:: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2. And paste the cfg file.

Wow your setting for the lighting hdr and bloom is way different than mine. I use a custom config program created by Ray and my bloom levels are 0.3 on both of them and i see perfect lighting and bloom,nothing overkill or bright but it's weird how your settings are different! I'll have to post pictures.

Some doesn't have autoexec.cfg. I think autoexec.cfg is only present by default if you use steam. If you're not using steam version you can just go ahead and add them in "system.cfg"

The file autoexec.cfg is not by default. Must be created in the game folder :-p

Jajjaja... yes, but these values ??can easily be edited, is a thing to find the lines where they appear (in autoexec.cfg, right click and open with Notepad) and are personalized.

Here:

r_HDRBloomMul = 0.7

and

r_HDRBrightLevel = 0.85

What settings is it to change the blur that you get when you aimdown sight? :( that thing just pisses me off the most. Also, is there anyway to fix the gun animations when you reload?

Dang, I tried pretty much maxing out every option the config provided, and it definitely looks much better! The loss in quality over distance was pretty much removed.

My GTX 580 runs it fairly well at 40-60 fps, but it's definitely not as smooth as the default Extreme setting. I bet if I knew more about the settings I could reduce some of the settings that aren't noticeable and get some more FPS out of it, but it was fun to try out :)

This pretty much fixes everything except the low-res textures, oh well.

You mean this?

Blur in motion [2]:

No Blur in motion [0]:

To eliminate or reduce the effect Blur, the line is "r_MotionBlur = 2. " change 2 to 0 and save the changes.

Good luck.
