If you plan on getting oblivion for your pre skyrim fix

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 5:00 pm

I'm putting this here cause i think new people might have a better chance of seeing it here. I recently re purchased oblivion because i had only played Xbox vanilla ob and was spending to much time here refreshing the general topics page waiting for my next info rush. Anyway I bought it off game-stop direct download, unfortunately unbeknownst to me game-stop goes through a company called impulse and their version of the game is encrypted(so is direct2drives version). What this means is that Oblivion script extender will not work. I was pissed. Even if you don't know what obse is (you need it for a lot of mods) , if your buying the game, trust me, get a physical copy. Apparently steams version is alright too. Just wanted to save people from the trouble of buying something that's pretty much broken as far as i'm concerned. :brokencomputer:

My friend got the Deluxe Edition (every DLC) for only $8. He was only gonna get Oblivion, but was able to get two games for the same price he would've paid before the sale :P.

@OP: Sorry man, that's really a tough break. Hope it wasn't too big of a loss.

There is a solution on youtube but i don't know how legal it is, I paid for the game so its not like i was ripping anybody off. It worked though.

Why didn't you buy it from Steam? OBSE works fine on Steam's release. Even Morrowind mods work fine on Steam.

This is why is buy physical copies of most games, especially moddable one. Most work fine, but it's not worth the risk.
