I play as a Male mainly because I can't get a Female character to look right, they either look far too good and therefore unrealistic or out of place, or just simply odd looking. I can't seem to manage to make an average looking and normal Female character.
Which is a shame considering I'd rather play as a Female, since pretty much every other game I have forces solely on a Male protagonist, and I prefer some variety.
I'm male but I usually play a female. TBH, I find it almost impossible to identify with huge, burly jocks, with whom I have nothing in common. I find it easier to identify with females, so that's what I RP, usually. Maybe because most of my closest friends are female. That and I happen to like the way women look.
I think what gender a person RPs has about as much significance as whether or not they like olives. I don't have a problem with anyone else's choices, so I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with mine. It just seems irrelevant. It's not something someone chooses, it just happens to be what you like. Like having a favorite color or a lucky number. Preferences are pretty meaningless.
Well I am a male but I like looking at women so I usually play as a female. I am currently playing a a breton male but I made a mistake because now I want to play as a female but I am REALLY REALLY powerful as my breton. You know when you do alot of work but then you have to do it all over again. Well thats what im thinking that I will have to do. I just got my crafting to 100 and I just got my ebony and dragon armor.
Im a dude and i play female. Cause most fashion mods tend to be more for females anyway, and they look Gorgeous. Other then alienslof's excellent creations, there isn't many choices for male characters.
Also, if im going to be looking at a character's behind for 131+ hours, might as well be a female's behind lol
As a male, I play both equally. Women and ethnic minorities are very under represented in video games, so if given the choice, I will often create a strong female lead to tip the scales a bit. I see it as creating the main character in a novel, just because you are a guy doesn't mean you can only have male characters in your book. Metroid is better with Samus. I prefer my female Shepard in Mass Effect 2, but played a male orc in WOW. Mostly play male in MMO's to avoid confusion with other players.
I primarily play as males in rpgs, as they're easier to role-play as. I did however roll up a female in Fallout 3, and she was a flipping insane cannibal, and I had a lulzy blast roleplaying as her.
I play as a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8_KiXKAP18 But srsly.. I still can't imagine why so many ppl like to play as a female char in a RPG?! You feel yourselves women or what the heck??
You don't seem to live up to your name much
You do realize that RPG stands for Role Playing Game, meaning you play a character that isn't you.
I hate people that "role play" their characters as if it was a reflection of themselves, but that's the WoW-generation in a nutshell.

Well, I am a woman. However, one of my characters is a male.

Lot of people play as Argonians and I don't think they feel particularly lizardy in real life. It's role-playing.
So far I've only played Skyrim with a female Khajiit. I'll probably make a new character to try out some of the things she can't do. Who know what gender they will be.
The only race I play as female is Breton, as I can't bring myself to play as a short man. Particually as the average Nord women towers over him, making Breton male look slightly ridiculous.
