Gonna wait until I get the money, so I can just pay it all off at once, and forget about it until 11/11/11

Nah

Last time I remember buying a big game on release was GTA4. Was a huge queue outside the game shop in town, tons of people who had waited out all night and preordered it

I just went to the supermarket where there were tons of copies for sale for £10 less

^ Waiting in line at night is fun! Especially when you have friends with you :D It's kind of like a tradition.
Protip: go to a smaller store. My local gamestop's midnight releases never top 20 people, unless it's like a CoD or something.

No. I bought Oblivion soon after it was released, the Special Edition and it worked for me straight out of the box. But I waited a year to buy FO3 and it still had bugs. After about 3 months of patches and driver downloads, finally got it to run smooth. BGS taught me a lesson I have not forgot. I am still waiting on FONV.
So no I want be an early adopter.

Not yet. I'm waiting for the special edition. I plan to buy a boxed copy, in lieu of a digital download via Steam, both pre-paid in full before 11-11. It'll look grand next to my copy of Morrowind for PC, Morrowind for XBox, Oblivion collectors edition for PC, and Oblivion for XBox 360.

I wonder how much a boxed copy of Daggerfall and Arena would run me, if I can find one? I might just make my own, authentic looking boxes to complete the look.

Not yet, I want to see if it is Steam only. Not that it matters because I like Steam, but why pay tax on the game if I don't have to?

I have to say, despite the fact that i would love to have it right now in my hands, that i will have to see a lot of preview, to be sure that is worth it, gameplay, screenshots, read available information on how everything works in the game, good graphics and animations wont do much for me, i care more for the value of its gameplay, so i still wait to see some preview to be sure

It is waaaay to soon to pre-order imho.

I may pre-order when:
- there's much more info on the game, what's it about, what will we be able to do, settings, factions, levelling, etc,
- there's a clear and definitive statement that there will be a CS, as capable or more capable as the ones we had before,
- there's some nice positive previews from trusted sources, excluding game-media which are usually bought and payed for,
- there's a special addition with some nice extra's like an artbook, figurine, nice box, etc.

I will not pre-order and might even not buy when:
- it's Fallout in Skyrim,
- there's no CS
- the DRM is intrusive and requires authentication servers to be ran,
- it has the same flaws as Oblivion, generic/bland story line, extensive leveled scaling issues, underwhelming cities and setting, consolified UI, etc.

Since there's still a year minus a month to go before release, I'm not in a hurry te pre-order.

Halo 2. My friend preordered a year in advance, told me I was a fool for not preordering, that I'd miss out and have to wait weeks to get my copy. I don't know what marketing pills he swallowed, but I endured his nonsense for a whole year. Release day, I punched out at the supermarket I worked at just after 11:30PM, and got in line with about 5 other people. By midnight it had swelled to over a dozen, but there were at least 50 copies. I was home and playing by 12:20, but my friend wasn't on until nearly 4:00AM because of the hundreds of people who showed up at the store he preordered from. When Halo 3 came out, he was a lot smarter and got in line at the supermarket with me.

These days I tend to go the digital download route especially since I've shifted more toward the PC as a gaming platform. But if the inevitable Special Edition offers something compelling, I might go the physical media route.

Not buying until the Gold/GotY edition comes out...I've learned my lesson where Bethesda QA and testing is concerned.

Nevermind the overall price difference...wait for GotY on the sale rack, $30-ish for what a lot of people paid twice that for by grabbing DLCs piecemeal after buying the game on release day. No-brainer.

Works for me anyway. :D
