Do you regret your username?

Post » Sun Oct 04, 2009 8:48 pm

I've seen a few people on here say that they made their account just to ask a single question, without really putting much thought into their username. They then decided to stick around (lured by fishy sticks I guess) and ended up with an embaressing name. I did the same thing - it's just my youtube name, and now it doesn't really make any sense.

Anyhoo, what about you guys?

Nah, I rather like my username. I sort of wish I could change in to Mazkah, because that is what I now use for my usernames, but I still think my current one is good.

I didnt intend to stay on here as i only came for tips on oblivion and any glitches present. But then i found that there is a dedicated lor section and general discussions so i kinda stayed. I dont regret my name because i had a super powerful mage in oblivion that owned everybody, and then someone i know called him supermage, so i used that instead of his other nickname (the loincloth of power).

I was planning on staying for a while since the beginning, and due to my critical lack of imagination i use this handle pretty much everwhere.

...Which may bite me in the ass sooner or later.

Yep, I definitely regret mine. It was my old school username, and I couldn't think of anything better at the time, so now I have the incredibly catchy name "Ess jay van zero". If I could change it, I'd probably make it SirCannonFodder, like in most places.

:whisper: You can PM a mod to capitalize it, like I did with my name.

I no longer use "Hungry Donner" elsewhere on the internet but I certainly don't regret it :)

Really? Why? Yours has always stuck me as a pretty good name, it's short, distinctive, and sounds enough like a real word that it's easy to remember without actually being a real word.

'Nay, it has served me well, for many years, in many battles. 'Tis certainly a name I bear with honour, and joy.' *Raises flagon* Huzzah!

After the initial Olaf-merchandise jokes, I've found myself at ease with the old name.

Is it possible to get a mod to change your whole name?

It's highly unlikely. It has to be done by admin, and if it's changed, we have problems tracking your snarky, offtopic and flammable posts. :P

My name fits me, I think.

Nope. Minor changes, like removing numbers, or swapping numbers for letters are allowed, IIRC, but complete changes are not allowed, unless it's an extremely special request (I think there has been a case or two of that happening...)

It's due to the extra work in keeping track of who's who.

So, want a new name? A new account's the only solution.

Of course, a mod has just ninja'd me.

Small changes such as a spelling mistake or capitalising will probably be acceptable for change - anything else, nope.

I am happy with my user name although I don't use it elsewhere apart form a couple of other related forums.

Yeah, actually. I made this when I was like 14. Stupid, stupid name. I made another account a few years back, but now I'm back to this one.
