My original experience was similar to the post about the game crashing. I had to wait a year or more to have a PC that could actually run it at all, especially outdoors. Morrowind had similar issues, of course, so it wasn't anything too new.

I was okay with Buffy's experience right up to the point of taking a huge drink of lake water. Especially when she washed everything off in it just afterwards, which who knows how many others have done, not to mention the various living things in the water and... well, you get the idea.

Lorelei might have been thirsty and hungry, but she'd rather put up with those than be sick or dead.

I doubt there are many which would disregard a post by you, Buffy is a legend on these forums.

Did you really start RP-ing the second you left the sewers? Also, was Buffy actually your first character? If so, I truly am surprised by your dedication.

nowhere near the same WOW factor i got when i first stepped outside in Far Cry but still pretty damned impressive, And still playing it today whereas Far Cry was resigned to the completed bin years ago so i guess thats testament to the quality of Oblivion. :trophy:

Since you are the OP of this thread, I won't feel as if I'm going too far off topic by thanking you for the kind words and answering your questions.

I spent a couple years playing uber all rounder rangers before I created Buffy as a radical departure. So she is not my first character and I'm glad for it. I greatly value that I learned all the quests and skills and tactics of the game before developing such a gimped, restricted challenge. Buffy will never kill a unicorn, pick up a blade or save Cyrodiil, yet I am well familiar with those things thanks to many previous characters. Buffy and I have been together for about a year and a half now. I see no end in sight, so I suspect she may be my last character. If we run out of things to do, the possibilities include: more mods, clear her memory and start her anew, transition her to TES III or TES V. As far as RP with Buffy, it began the moment she awoke in the tutorial dungeon.

Oh yes, I do remember it. Years ago, when I knew nothing of Oblivion and there was so much to discover. I won't ever feel the same until TES V comes out (if it ever does). I climbed the Jerall Mountains to get a good look of the Imperial City, an Iron Claymore hanging on the back of my robed Bosmer. Those were the days.

Yeah. It was around dawn, very misty. I was so awed by the view, I barely noticed the "Escaped the Imperial Sewers - 50g" achievement at the bottom of my screen. I ran around a little, and killed a mudcrab. I started walking up towards the city (I didn't know about fast travel for a while), and got into an epic battle with a wolf

I didn't know you could fast travel between undiscovered cities, so my first visit to each was by foot. I totally loved the game so much (still do). I remember my character, fully clad in Fur Armor, walking up a hill, and peering over it to see the city walls of Kvatch in the distance. (Little did I know that I was literally going to hell that day)

I just bought this game about week ago and I'm blown away by the graphics. The atmosphere of this game really captured me from the get go, and I'm only about 3 days in and still in Imperial City and immediate surroundings.

I was all tensed up as I tried to keep up with the king's guards while at the same trying to investigate carefully in case some monster was around the next corner. It took me forever to get through the sewers as I was sneaking around in the dark, peaking around the corners being afraid a torch would alarm any monsters. Whenever I came upon something I carefully prepared for battle and fought like my life was literally at stake, carefully selecting the appropriate gear for each fight. I was so excited when I found a bow and the iron cuirass was my most prized possession. I completely forgot about using magic as I was so captured in the environment and my precious gear.

When I finally made it to the exit from the sewers and saw the daylight, the brilliant lake and the lush grass and plants I just stopped and my jaw dropped. I literally stripped my character down and went for a swim, as I didn't know if I would drown if I went in the water wearing armor. I then tested that and made my way to the other side where I started exploring the plants and building. As I just discovered that I could actually pick the pretty flowers, I was welcomed by a bandit with a huge hammer. That was the first time I loaded....Thankfully I had saved just as I came out of the sewers. I then, just as carefully as I fought the goblins and rats, disposed of the two bandits, not knowing their strength or what weapons they would have.

It was just amazing, and I'm still only exploring the cave and the ruins and the city, with so much more to come.

Hurray for Oblivion!! =D

Oh believe me it gets so much better, Wait until you see some of the sunrise/sunsets especially over a stretch of water. They really are incredibly impressive.

My first time coming out of the Sewer as my first character RoflLizard, was enough to convince me to buy it, because my friend showed me the game last month, and I just had to buy it as soon as I could.
I felt like a spec on the ever so large providence of Cyrodil, and it felt awesome.
