Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 5:14 pm

Imagine this you have suddenly replaced todd howard. todd have to leave bethesda in search of the holy grail. So how will you desighn skyrim. Do keep in mind that you can tell us more things than the questions in the poll... For ex. You can tell us all of your answers ass well as things like if the MQ would be different. (note that im apologise if any of the polls are biased)

Gary Noonan?

Dont tease me with neverhappens though:/

Oh, but oh, Gary Noonan head of TES V.
Oh.
I believe the popular term is: 'I did it in my pants' just thinking about it.
Realistically anyone but Todd. But I believe it is common knowledge by now I not a fan of Todd 'the hatchet' Howard. At all.
In my unimportant little opinion he is everything that is wrong with TES.
His view of what fantasy is 'Conan is cool' just very clashes with mine 'Conan is boring'.

Give me Michael Kirkbridge any day over that boy.

Man, I'm just glad it's him and not me who has to search for the Hilly Grail (sic). That sounds like one hell of a hike. :dead:

Also, if I designed a game it would look like a child's crayon drawing, and not the kind you want to stick on the fridge.

Edit: Boo, way to edit your post. I liked that little mistake. :sadvaultboy:

I wouldn't release it for another year and would be the only one who got to play for a while. :hubbahubba:

TBH, I thought this would be a stupid thread and would be locked moments after being created, but its very interesting. I would cater to the older fans rather than newcomers simply because I would be able to include a lot of lore in the game that only true fans would know. Also, the current gameplay seems as though it was made to make the game more accesible to newcomers and casual gamers, so I would completely change it.

-I would add more choices in quests that affect the game world.

-I would add more joinable factions

-Smarter AI

-Detailed dialogue and NPC interaction

-An economy thatt is affected by your actions

-Survival features

-Ways to have an impact on the world

-Multiple ways to approach quests

I agree with most of this but I would try to make it where both groups can be pleased. Like find a system that's complex as Daggerfall but is still seemed to be where anyone can pick up the controller. As long as it works.

I'd freak out. Whoever makes me project lead for an Elder Scrolls is a fool begging to commit financial suicide. I doubt any of us here would make for an even halfway decent replacement for Todd... and people really overestimate the influence his own opinion seems to have on everything related to a game. Everything bad is Todd's fault, according to certain presumptions, and that's not true, by any means, nor is the undermining of the difficulty of his job on these forums very... well, nice. The guy's been with the series ever since he was hired as an Arena game tester since 1993 or 1994 and he knows what he's doing. Plus this false talk of complexity is getting extremely tiresome. Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion are pretty simple games. They aren't on these different tiers of complexity people make up simply because one game has more skills or two more armor slots than another, they are and always have been action-RPGs with plenty of customization and plenty of dungeon-diving. That is their nature and it astounds me how few people can logically get to that conclusion instead of copying and spewing out "It's dumbed-down, the series is ruined... CONSOLE GAMERS!" It's as if people never played these games, at all, or have a highly fragile sense of complexity. With that said, no I don't believe Skyrim is perfect and I'm not a person opposing any criticism of anything Bethesda, but such foolish, ignorant nonsense that could only come from the minds of those who know nothing of game development grows to get on one's nerves.

Good point but i did not made this because I think todd is dumbing down the series. I just made this to imagine how todd watches too much much monty python and that got him to find the holy grail while pete hines is dumb enough to pick a random fan of the streets to be lead game designer.... Still I agree with you.

You seriously want the guy who animated some of the worst character animations in TES (Morrowind/Bloodmoon/Oblivion) to be project lead ?!? /boggle !!

And Micheal is a writer not really suitable to be the project lead of cracker distribution none the less a game.

The only thing we know for sure about TES is if Todd did not work at Bethesda we would not have a CS period he wrote the first one and without him modern TES modding would not even exist and that is enough for me to desire his continued presence as Lead !

Besides the fact I am personally quite happy with the direction the games are going they have steadily gotten better with the dumping of useless skills -> EVERY SINGLE OF THE ABSURD LANGUAGE SKILLS IN DF gone thank you good bye, and athletics(Running in DF)/acrobatics(Jumping in DF) were annoying skills that I always cheated to the levels I wanted them and forget that they even existed because they were worthless overall, the only things I will miss are the varied weapons (Not the skills but the weapons themselves) and even then I can just mod those back in and Climbing and then only for rogues/thief type characters as I believe it would reinforce that character archetype.

To be honest Mereri I'm unsure as to why you even hang around here as your every word drips with disdain for the series to the point of hatred off all things that change from installment to installment possibly your best situation would be to just play Arena since Todd was not involved in that games development,... then you can of course be happy. :)

I don't see the point of this thread.

This.

FYI, there are many other people that work on Skyrim other than Todd Howard, and he isn't the only person who influences the game's design. There's a large group of people who have been working on the franchise for many years and who are doing what they believe as a group is best for the game and franchise. So far I've agreed with (and enjoyed) the vast majority of the changes they've made with each game, and from what I've seen, Skyrim looks like it will be not only the best Elder Scrolls game by far, but also one of the best games of all time.

I thought most of that was already going to be in Skyrim?

I don't get why there is so much hate towards Todd. I personally like him.
