do you sell your old games?

I never really understood why people sell their old games and/or consoles..

I still own every console, game, and Computer I have ever purchased.. that way if i ever get the urge i can go "I really liked playing that.. maybe I'll give it another go!"

do you keep your old games/consoles/computers? or do you get rid of them to make room for the new?

Sold some, chucked some.

All games that for one reason or another I was certain I wouldn't play again. Still have a lot of old games.

By the time I junk my old PCs they are near worthless anyway.

No. But at times I've given away some games, like earlier this year I gave my sister my PS2 games Kingdom Hearts 1&2 as I'm getting the PS3 ports.

I don't sell games. They're like books in that once I own them they become part of my collection even if they're bad. I've still got some old consoles and computers in storage (Sega Master System, NES, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx 16, Commodore 64, and maybe a couple of others), but I usually give my old consoles and computers away when I'm done with them. I don't sell them, because if there happens to be anything wrong with them I don't want any accountability. It's not worth the little bit of cash I could get for them. I don't keep old consoles that don't have any nostalgic value for me...I don't have space to store all of the crap that goes with them.

I sell or trade in my old games and consoles when I need extra money or I tire of them.

I don't sell my games or my consoles. I replay games often, but more than that I like having a collection of all the games I've played over the years, even the ones I'd never play again.

I refuse to sell any of my old consoles or games. I have my original NES, SNES, N64, PSX, PS2, PS3, xbox360 and wii and all of them get some form of regular use. I also have every game I've ever owned, with the exception of a few sports games that I've traded along the way out of boredom. I never bought in to the digital game idea either, so will always get the disc.

I guess for me I've been a frugal gamer that rarely buys a game at launch and as such I don't usually pay more than $20 for a game, i've also never needed the cash so I've never had to offload anything in order to move to the next system. If I want a PS4 i'll go buy one tomorrow... if only there were enough games I wanted to play. end of a system era is a great time for buying used games on craigslist and such too as many people only want the latest and greatest. For me my gaming library is the same as my wife's collection of books. she goes back and re-reads her favorites, I go back and play mine. Also having young kids now, I've been starting to replay a lot of games with my 4 year old and she loves it.

I treat every game system/game I own like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz-8CSa9xj8.

Plus, Gamestop is insulting with their buying prices.

I've never sold a game. I've given some away to friends, though. I gave one of my five copies of Morrowind to a friend on these forums a couple of years ago, to introduce her to that game.

I've never sold an old computer, either. Our garage is like a Computer Museum. We need the parts. We have seven people living in my household and all of us use computers. So we cannibalize old computers for parts. A few of us, like myself, have two computers running side-by-side at the same time. We can't afford to sell old computers.

I've never purchased a console, so I've never sold one.

Up to fairly recently users could consider games an investment that they could cash in later like stocks or gems/precious metals

But personally, I have 1 game I would love to rid of but that's something for another thread, the rest are all "My precious".

The last time one of our consoles&games was sold was back in the 80's & the Atari 2600 & about 40 games were sold for "Super Mario Bro's 2"

No, because I mostly play on PC. No market for used PC games.

I do sell my old consoles and console games. I very much believe in not accumulating a bunch of stuff, so if I'm done with something, I'll get rid of it. If I ever need another say, Dreamcast, or N64, I can get one for super cheap.

I'm an anti-collector, really. I just get in these moods where I decide I have way too much [censored] lying around and go through and clean out. If I don't sell, I'll ditch.

Yes, but I keep the ones I enjoyed and can see myself coming back to.

However I regret selling my PS3 and all my games, I didn't think I would miss it as much as I do. :'(

So far with my Xbox One I've only sold Watchdogs because it was a terrible game.

I used to, but recently, the Gamestop stores have been asking for personal info, hiding behind "Pawn Shop" Laws, and still giving [censored] prices.

I've never sold a console, but I have sold games I know I'll never play again because I got no enjoyment out of them. Very few and far between have I done that though. I still have my original playstation that my cousin gave me when he got a PS2. Not hooked up at the moment, but my original xbox is, as well as my PS3 even though I've switched to mostly PC.

I don't do consoles, but I still have my C64 and original 386SX. Over the years I'd hand an old computer down in the family when I built a new one, but that ends once everyone has one. I sold a couple and gave away some parts, but I still have about a dozen close to functional computers in the house.

edit- I still have all my games.

Selling any old game or system of mine has never crossed my mind.. in terms of games, I have very little to give away anyway even if I wanted to. Most of my games date back to my childhood, and I even have the original discs of two of my oldest ones.. I could never bring myself to sell any of them no matter the age because to lose them would be to lose part of my childhood.

When it comes to my systems, we still have our old SNES somewhere but one of my brother's friends has our old N64.. as for computers that get old, we always end up finding another use for them so we've never thrown them away either.

I've sold a small handful of my games, but only because I reallly needed money at the time for bills and Christmas. The one really hurt selling, it's one of my favorite games of all time, but it was also worth $500 and we really needed the money. The few others I've sold I enjoyed but I could handle parting with them, especially for the price they fetched($100, $80, $60, $90 respectively). I'll eventually, when we have the money, buy back the first one, the others I'm not that concerned about(and if you're wondering, the $500 was Earthbound for the SNES, complete in very good condition, including original scratch & sniff cards. The others were Mega Man X3, 1, 2 and daggerfall in perfect, mint condition. But, I have a second daggerfall, also in perfect, mind condition, so I didn't mind selling one).

Was totally against it till recently. Then I decided I didn't need a lot of old games I wouldn't play anymore. FPS games I only played for the multiplayer I got rid of. Gran Turismo 6, I'm more of a Forza guy so I wasn't ever going to play that. Some other games I wasn't ever going to play, hell I have more but I hang on to them. PS2 and Xbox games I will keep though.

I actually got Destiny because of the 8 or so games I traded in.

I trade old games in for new ones. I rarely ever have the urge to play older games. Consoles get passed down to the kids after my wife and I purchase new systems.

I will never return a game or console for any reason. I have a total of roughly $4,000 in my entire video game collection and if I were to return all of my games and consoles to a local gaming retailer I would be lucky to get a forth of that. Its simply not feasible and really stupid to take that large of a loss, just look at it this way if I traded in almost 100 Xbox 360 games, 20 PS3 games, 50 Xbox games, 80 PS2 games, and 30 PC games, with all the systems and accessories. I would only be able to purchase 2 brand new next generation consoles, my entire life for two consoles........ not going to happen. 20 years ago my father told me that gaming was just a phase well now its a lifestyle for me. I eat, sleep, and breathe gaming and I hope to until I'm bitter and old and left in the cold.

Nice thing is, while pawnshops and Gamestop prices svck, E-bay does tend to get you a fair price, though you do have to suffer through theirs and paypals cut, but in the end it will still be many times over what you would get anywhere else unless you knew a collector and could sell to them directly with no middle man.

Honestly, I don't think anyone should ever say never, at least not when it comes to something like this. I used to say never, I said it would take me living in my car before I sold any of my games. Well, if I hadn't sold Earthbound, that very well might have happened, and Earthbound was the one game I NEVER wanted to sell. I mean, even if you have money now, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have money later, and I can think of a dozen things or more that are considerably more important then my gaming collection, including but not limited to food, clothing, water, shelter, my wife and both my daughters.
