I dont get the arguing and bickering about original fallout fans vs. post fallout 3 fans. I dont get it because there is literary nothing one side can do to change the others mind, despite what they will say. Original fans wont like any fallout game that bethesda makes, even if its a perfect game made in the exact styles of the two original games, simply because its bethesda making it, period. I understand that many of the original fans hate fallout 3 because 'bethesda messed it up and its nothing like the classics", agreed, but does that make fallout 3 a [censored] game? simply because its made from a different point of view then the originals?

I understand the feelings of a beloved franchised getting destroyed by new designers(I was a metal gear solid fan), but the dispure of this argument is about preference in style, not that either side is wrong. There were alot of good things about the originals, there are alot of good things about FO3, as well as new vegas, but just because one game came first doesnt give it the right to be called the best, its just opinion. I played fallout 3 first, then new vegas, then fallout 1, then fallout 2 and I have to say Fallout 3 is still my favorite. That doesnt mean that the other games are crap, because they arent, but for me and what I like in a gamem FO3 blew me away. FO1 and FO2 were really good games, but they didnt captivate me the same. Maybe if I had played them first things would be different, but I didnt. apples and oranges, they are all great games, but everyone has a preference and its usually based on nostalgia.

With that being said, I hope FO4 goes to: Boston(Commonwealth), New York or Chicago(Can you imagine mafia type families in Chicago or NYC?) priceless

P.S. I would also like to see another Fallout obsidian game.

The folks who frequent "Interplay-purist" websites like DuckandCover.com are a bunch of whiny little nerds who obsess over the stupidest crap imaginable, and who will never. ever give Bethesda the slightest benefit of the doubt for having revived the Fallout franchise, much less for having made it thrive both critically and creatively.

Seriously, these idiots fill their Pampers Pull-Ups with beef stew every time Todd Howard says something in the press, as if he's the Ogre-King Tyrant of the World who "stole" Fallout away from its proper masters.

Alright, you are wrong on SO MANY different levels.

1. Bethesda was not the only company that wanted to revive Fallout you know, You had Troika, which had many Black Isle people. And you also had EA and Activision.

2. One of the only reasons it is thriving is because of the commercials of people getting their heads blown off. It completely fails as a Fallout game.

3. CREATIVE?!?!? Give me a break. FO3 copied both FO1 and FO2s story, gave it some changes, copied old factions etc. There is very little creativity in FO3.

Now, I am not saying that Fallout 3 is bad, its great, but it fails as a Fallout Game.

Most (if not all) fans of the originals here admit that Fallout 3 was a good game in its own merits.

Not if you read the post on this thread. Its no biggie though.

Bethesda's world/landscape and towns and story. Obsidian's dialog.

No more God characters: Master, President Eden, Mr. House...no more

I think FO3 was paying homage to the older games instead of just 'stealing' them.

Wait...huh? I simply mentioned that Bethesda created a critically-acclaimed game; you're talking about bidding rights. While you're correct that other studios had expressed an interest in developing a new Fallout game after Black Isle's dissolution, Bethesda ended up with the final rights; good, bad, or otherwise.

2. One of the only reasons it is thriving is because of the commercials of people getting their heads blown off. It completely fails as a Fallout game.

That's not really a sound basis for a proper counter-argument, you know.

We're simply going to have to agree to disagree on this one, looks like. Fallout 3 remains one of the best-reviewed games ever produced, and plenty of those same critics felt it was more than a worthy successor to the first two entries.

That gives it quite a bit of legitimacy and weight right there, as far as its legacy is concerned.

Reviews don't count for much. All of the CODs get perfect 10s all the time and they are really dumbed down and full of explosions.

And, I doubt that some, if any of those reviewers actually played FO1 and FO2.

I'd like to see factions and maybe individuals from 3. But I wouldn't want it in DC again.

Really? Only reason game was success was because of commercials on TV?

Hmm creative. Well, FO1, 2, and new vegas, all in same area, same factions, similar stories. Oh, we got two new factions in NV.

Being the first FO game in about a decade, they did fine with me. Would I like more, and to advance on the improvements made in NV? Yes, and I would think that is a given.

Btw, this first game, 3, that BoS was major faction. I don't include tactics cuz it was a strat game. I love how people get sick of groups after one game when they major presence, cuz if that is the case, no factions should ever appear again. What a wonderful story that would be, no continuation, just randomness. Bleh.

It would be nice to see D.C as a DLC or maybe have D.C play a part in the next game. But although I do like Fallout 3 and the places, I think it would be better for us all if the place is a different area. It's tiring to see the same environment twice with changes. Unless those changes include the D.C ruins to be a huge city like Vegas.

But unless Bethesda can think of an astonishingly awesome main quest line for D.C that tops everything that came before it, I'll be all for it. But other than that, I'd rather have it set in a different city like New York. Personally, I would like it set in Seattle, since it isn't taken by NCR yet, it'll provide a nice place of conflict, not to mention it has a nuclear submarine docking station near there.

I would like to know what happened from folks in FO 3, but I wouldn't want game in DC to do it.

Midwest is fine with me. Can then have people from NV and FO3 make cameo, or play roles, or at least find info on what happened.

Who I would like to see: followers. Veronica. Ed-E. Maybe some legion. From FO 3, elder sarah lyons, talon company, reilly, doc lesko lol, gary lol, col autumn, crazy wolfgang, and in general slavers, and radscorps lol.
