Do you think Bethesda will make their deadline?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:31 am

I was watching 4playerpodcast tonight and Brad (a host) said something along the lines of "when they release the new CoD game as they do every year, that they will probably use the 11-11-11 release date and that Bethesda will probably push the date to a later time possibly 2012." I don't necessarily agree as its pure speculation because 2k hasn't even announced a new CoD. Also its not like Bethesda to push back games, usually when they have a date set, you can usually bet it will be that day. But with only a year after the game's announcement do you think they can make their release date?

They have never been so specific with their ETAs before, they seem pretty confident about it. So I think they will.

I agree with povuholo, they do seem to be very certain about Skyrim's release date. This can be probably attributed to the fact that they've been even more secretive than usual, so that when they start showcasing the game they avoid disapointment.

I actually hope Bethesda will be able to keep the day for themselves. It falls on a Friday, which is a weird release date for a game, most come out on Tuesdays.

Probably. It seems that they are confident and already far in the development.

I think the time of exceeding deadlines is more or less over.

When you have commercials on television and the game gets released on two consoles, then there are many people involved that expect from the developers that the deadlines are met.

The game has been in development for multiple years, and there is still months to go. Don't see why they would have to delay the game.

Considering they started work on the game after Shivering Isles finished (2007) and started going on it full-time after finishing Fallout 3 (two years ago) and have another 10 months to polish up whatever final things they want to finish while their marketing department kicks into gear they should most defintely make it, (if anyone thinks that anything they say or suggest on these forums in the meantime will have any effect they are kidding themselves - Bethesda only show 'what they are ready to show' and so once it has been shown it is set in stone and won't change).

Well I don't think Call of Duty releasing around the same time would be any reason for them to push the game back. It isn't like this game is a half ass new title, it's a well established game series and one of the best in the business (Better then Call of Duty even)

The Friday thing is a little weird because don't most (all) games come out on Tuesdays?

Hell, if it's on a Friday, that just means that I can enjoy it for the weekend without having to worry about having to stop to go to class. xD

But yah, they've had A LOT of time to work on this game, and even more still. From what I've read on the official rumors, when they planned to finally show it, they wanted to show a lot of it. From what I get out of that, it probably means they've already got a lot of the game built. Heck, I bet their just doing polishing business right now, adding some last minute details and what not.

Either way, I can't wait till next month. I have planned for my inevitable black out when I finally lay my eyes on GI's exclusive.

CoD isnt part of the same type of game as TES. You can not say one is better then the other since they don't have anything in common save for the first person view.
COD = Linear action shooter
TES = Open world adventure RPG

Or more time to drag their feet. I want the game to be great and well made just as much as the next guy, but delays do not mean that is going to happen. Look at what happened to Starcraft Ghost. Delay after delay after delay, till it was unofficially canceled.

No big game companies ever make thier deadline. But little game companies have to meet thier deadline, and so often make rushed buggy games.

JoWood is guilty of this.

because 2k hasn't even announced a new CoD.

I believe that Activision is the one to announce the new CoD.

On topic, yeah I think it will be out on time.

Well that is reassuring. I was already confident about it, I thought it could be something to discuss. Good to see Nick cleared it up. You never know with the way things get pushed back today. Like I said though, Bethesda has always been firm on release dates. I don't see Modern Warfare trying to compete with TES anyways. Oblivion alone is one of the best games of the decade, better than most (if not all) CoD games. Not that you can really compare, but you know... I'm comparing.

Yeah I didn't want to paint myself as an idiot. I realize they are completely different genres but your talking to a person, as a huge gamer, that hates, and I MEAN ABSOLUTELY HATES! the Call of Duty franchise. It's overrated and overhyped every year and I'm sick of hearing all the people mention Call of Duty when I'm talking about other games whether it be on forums or video comments. All it is is "Call of Duty is better" "This game svcks compared to COD" etc.

I just wanted to express my opinion about TES series being better games then COD, should've worded it as my favorite or something though as you can't compare them because they are two different genres. In that case though Rainbow Six is better then Call of Duty. And Brink will probably be too.

(And this is the last time I'm talking about this because I don't want to turn any thread into a discussion about Call of Duty)

For now I'll say they will. :)

It's way too early to expect a delay, or to know for certain that they will make it. But from the little info we have I'd say they're pretty far along. Otherwise I would hate it if they rush the game to make the deadline, and release an unfinished/buggy game.

It's coming out on 11/11/11, guys. No doubt. EOT.

Well, the trailer set it in stone; I'm just reiterating what we've already said. Like Todd has stated many times, the team has been working on the game for quite some time now. The date wasn't set arbitrarily.

Bethesda doesn't release a specific date until they know they will make it.

It is too early to tell, it can break either way. I just hope there is a few weeks notice if it occurs so I can plan my off time accordingly.
