do you think we could get our characters drunk in fallout 4?

imagine having him or (her) having slured speach and stumbling around the wasteland?

i know in fallout 3 (i think) and nv when we drank one beer or whiskey or even wine, we got a temporary boost in the amount of weight we could carry.

If I had to guess I'd say yes. Although I think at most it'd just be blurred vision for a short time.

Since I am my character, yes he can get drunk.

I've found myself wandering the DC and Nevada wastes drunk. Many times.

In other words: I don't need the character to actually get drunk to be able to RP getting drunk. If I do enough drinking for myself, believe me...that guy on the screen will definitely seem drunk too!

Either way is fine for me. It would be kind of fun to be "double drunk".

If we could in Skyrim (I never tried to), then yes.

If we couldn't, then no.

Yes, and we get addicted to cigarettes too. 'Cause realism...

It was hilarious to get John Marston drunk, he'd stumble around, slam into objects before falling flat on his face. I wish we could do that here, it's a bit more immersive to me than just 'blurred vision' while everything else functions normally.

Would also be great to be able to smoke, but I doubt that would happen.

it also reduced some stats like perception and intellegence I believe.

Im inclined to think they won't though, mostly with the region issues they had. especially with the whole morphine/medX drama they had to deal with to make australia happy

A drunk wastelander, who is armed to the teeth? This can't end well.

So sure, why not?

I believe it's better not to compare the two like that. It's like saying if we could fight dragons in Skyrim we should be able to in FO4 :nono:

Pfffh what? It's more so you are the one comparing the games in the wrong manner. Alcohol is a consumable found in many RPGs, it's reasonable to expect there to be a side effect to consuming a lot of it such as intoxication.

It's absolutely nothing like expecting dragons.

That's what I meant.

I didn't say if we could in Skyrim then yes, if not then no. lol

I liked the drinking mechanic in Red Dead Redemption. Like you say, it was fun to get hammered and then try and function.

I'd love for the walking controls to get all wobbly like that in FO4 when you drink a lot, and cause you to kind of weave back and forth. And your iron sights would jiggle around so much as to be almost useless, and when you used VATS, the percentages to hit different targets would just keep constantly changing to random numbers. :twirl:

Well, I'm not saying we should be 'able to' fight dragons in Fallout 4 but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't something dragon-esque to fight.

I'd be fine with it, so long as they don't impose any of the screenspace blur effects. Drunk PC animations and sounds are fine.

*If they just have to include them though... I hope they at least don't include them for the TPP view.

I just hope that it won't be just a message on your screen and perhaps a temporary change in some statistics, but that we will get to see how the player is drunk with on-screen effects, like camera moving dizzy etc.

Would be nice to have animation for that as well (and smoking too). NPCs could drink and smoke in F3/New Vegas, but not the PC, for some reason.

It wouldn't surprise me if local laws would prevent the sale of the game in some countries. Smoking is drug use, and we know they had to alter FO3's drugs to comply with Australia.

I think it would be funny if our characters could drink till they blacked out and woke up in random places. Like in a field naked, or in jail, or with a brahmin...

Given that the airship/zeppelin seemingly serves as a flying aircraft carrier also, I suspect Vertibirds may be Fo4's dragons.

This is most likely the cause.

Too many places are sensitive to PC real-world drug use that it wouldn't happen.

Yup, had that exact thought. Wouldn't mind it so long as you don't stumble upon them as often as you did dragons.

Especially since it was quite common for television and radio ads to promote tobacco products.
