Do you think Fallout 4 will top the Witcher 3?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:28 pm

I await the day that something to truly rival Bethesda's games comes onto the field. Some people seem to have thought it was Witcher 3 but for me it wasnt. I haven't played the game, but from what I can gather it isnt really gunning for that hardcoe roleplaying/open world audience that I would consider myself a part of.

One day im sure someone will take a good shot at unseating Bethesda though, and create a game that is a true equal. But as far as I can tell, the next few years seem barren of it.

This is quite correct. Nothing compares to bethesda games when it comes to open world and capacity of roleplay.

But, by letting go the roleplay, witcher becomes more story driven and solves one of the problems of Skyrim, the "shallowness".

I think Elder Scrolls/Fallout and witcher are similar series that are walking different paths, and Im really happpy that we can enjoy all of them. Overall, I prefer bethesda games, but I dont deny how good is witcher.

Well I don't care what other people think of the game but for me it's very likely.

LOL, yeah I stayed away from horses in Skyrim. I will say I liked the follow-the-trail feature in TW3. And, yes, Red Dead did horses great.

Ha funny, me too! I think it's a really cool game in its own regards, but I haven't even found Ciri yet and I've just stopped playing. Not because I'm bored of it or have some kind of problem. I just for whatever reason don't feel like playing it. One day I'll get back into it but I think my Fallout 4 hype is killing my mood to play anything.

Witcher 3 is a fantastic game, to me at least. Great quests throughout... whereas Fallout may fall short on some quests. Won't know till i get my hands on Fallout though... but the witcher will be hard to top for me.

Because if I can't brag to Witcher 3 [censored] Fallout 4 is better then life isn't worth living and those little [censored] don't get a taste of their on medicine.

Joking aside I do agree. I don't care what another person think about a game, console, TV show, ect if I like then that's good enough for me. I need other people to like what i like to make feel better about myself. I get told all the time pro wrestling is stupid and yeah it's stupid but I enjoy it and have my entire life. Now if you'll excuse me Raw is on. :D

I don't care.

As long as Fallout 4 is good then I will be happy

If the Witcher sequal is not good I will be sad.

On PC, I think Fallout blows Witcher out of the water with what it can be.

On PS4 the Witcher was pretty damn slick. The environments were pretty, but boring, unfortunately.

Well the question here is what do you mean by will F4 top W3?

-If we are talking about units sold that defenatly yes

-If we are talking about Goty rewards, not rly sure cud go both ways

-If we are talking graphic than no it wont(not vanilla at least with mods anything is possbile)

-If we are talking story highly doubtfull

-If we are talking about replayabilty value, sure it wont be a contest at all rly

-If we are talking roleplay value again no contest at all

-If we are talking crafting and hausing again sure it will

So to sum up yes F4 will top W3 in many game aspects but def not all of them.

Bearing in mind that I just started playing Witcher 3 this past weekend and have absolutely no experience with the first two episodes of that property, I'm enjoying the game. It feels more akin to Dragon Age: Inquisition than to Skyrim, Fallout 3, or New Vegas. The playing field is more limited, providing a confined sand-box versus having the whole world to explore as we do in Fallout or Skyrim, (At least so far as I've found at this early point.) though I expect each of the major areas will be built with a similar experience in mind. We will see as I progress.

One complaint so far: I inadvertently finished the first Act in Witcher and boarded the train before I'd wrapped everything up in White Orchard, finding myself railroaded into Act 2 in Vizimir with no apparent means of returning to where I wanted to be. And evidently Vessimir and I burned our bridges, so are unwelcome even if I COULD return. This is...well, very bad storytelling when you're running a tabletop RPG, and something I loathe in computer/console games. It's the biggest complaint my wife and I have against Fable 4, after all. (Having a story on rails, that is.)

The combat system is decent, with various options available (though a bit of a learning curve with the control schema for someone who has spent many many hours in gamesas worlds over the last few years.). Crafting is okay, though the cost to even dismantle items is annoying. Storytelling is okay, thus far, though there have been a few conversation choices that left me going LOLWUT in my head. The quests are okay, without too many fetch-quests as yet. I do like the witcher-sense lootable and forage container highlighting system, as it makes it easier to spot those items for...ahem, requisition. :goodjob:

Overall, I would like to say I'm enjoying Witcher 3 as a distraction until Fallout 4 arrives.

I am looking forward to the fully (or very nearly) sandbox environment of FO4, with the option to follow the main quest (or not) as I see fit. I LIKE being able to go "Oh, Alduin is coming? Okay, I'll look into it, but first let me clear this barrow here. And take this potion to that dude over in Windhelm. Oh, and I have to forge some armor so I can grind another level. Look, I'll get back to you when I can, okay?" I LIKE Bethesda's penchant for packing their maps with stuff to play with, look at, explore, and loot. I LIKE stumbling across the WTF things that are there because SCIENCE!

Does that mean I don't anticipate warts and dry-rot behind the peeling paint when the game comes out? Of course not. Do I think FO4 is superior to Witcher 3? For me, yes! For others? Maybe?

Considering I thought The Witcher 3 was awful and the most overrated game this year it won't be hard for Fallout 4 to top it

I'm similar. I have about 200 hours on the Witcher 3. I really enjoyed it through my first playthrough but am kind of fizzling out on my 2nd. Skyrim and FO3 on the other hand I have over 1200 hours listed ( and I used to play offline lots) in each and are still going strong. I'm sure I'll go back to TW3, its a great game, but I prefer BGS approach.

Fallout will likely sell more, but I don't think it will outscore Witcher 3.

Also personally I doubt anything will top Witcher 3 for me this year. Witcher 3 (pc) had a 95 on metacritic up until a few days ago. I can't help but feel some butt hurt Bethesda fan started a review site just to bring the score down. Hahaha.
