Do you think fast travel as cheating?

Curious about what people think about fast travel...I have tried not to use it but I'm slipping into using it now and then...

i don't, I would rather not rely on it though I only use it on rare occasions. like going home to drop of gear as an excuse for my horse not having saddle bags and running into combat constantly. While I was in the Mages college for a while I just pretended I could teleport lol.

I don't consider it cheating, though agree it's more fun if you don't do it.
I don't always have that much time to play though, and if I want to do a quest I don't have time to run all over the map

I use it whenever I can. Why not use it? Its a waste of time if I don't use it. And I'm not into the "immersion" gameplay.

I always use it. I don't see the point of not using features put there for us, gamers.

I'm fine with Bethesda leaving fast travel in. That way it's an option players can choose to use if they want. I'm all for options. Do what you can to streamline gameplay, but give us options for those that really want to roleplay.

No. I will admit that I do use fast-travel a lot, but thats only because I have several other games that I want to get to eventually. (arkham city, AC: revalations, RAGE, etc.) Im not rushing through the game by any means, but I dont want to spend months playing it.

I kill my horse to many times to run around ALL the time.

I use fast travel, but i always seem to HAVE to mix it up.

I mean, i love both of them, but there are times i just cant wait to get to the next objective. Its to exciting.

Running along the road and through the wilderness is AWESOME too.

I use them both equally.

I don't think Bethesda would have put it in if they thought it was going to ruin gameplay. Not that your saying it is, but just my overall conception on the topic.

I fast travel , but i love running around too. Does that make any sense?

I use it on my current character, although on my next one I'm not going to use it at all.

I find myself using fast travel mainly because its just there, usually to travel between citys to sell loot, but it kinda ruins the immersion a little bit because your just teleporting to your next quest and not exploring and finding things ect. id love a mod to disable it or at least limit it to once or twice a day so it doesnt feel like your cheating..

No, its a good thing especially since they make you foot slog your way there the first time. All the big cities can be FT'd too if you have made the journey there by carriage or by foot. In Oblivion you could fast travel from city to city before you even visited them. So its finally been implemented and improved the way it should be.

It makes "business" or "fedex" trips less tedious, I don't want to run from White Run to Solitude if I'm just looking to sell a potion or two. So I'm all for the feature. Though, it has made me pass all together on buying a horse, just seems like a waste of 1000g.

I think of it as a sort of necessary evil. Quests and whatnot are so spread out that it's a bit ridiculous to hoof it everywhere. At the same time, it's likely that the quests were designed that way because fast travel was included. If you're going to have fast travel, what does it matter how spread out things are? Right?

As for immersion breaking? Sure, it'd be more "immersive" to not use it, but using it isn't so terrible I hate myself for using it.

I see fast travel as like sitting by the campfire in Red Dead Redemption and traveling somewhere. I personally don't use it, but I don't think it breaks immersion.

I use it quite frequently.
And I don't think it's cheating...it's a matter of preference. And I prefer to use it

Normal time passes when you Fast Travel. It's not 'teleportation'. It's not cheating. It's cutting out the boring running across the map.

I did enough running around everywhere in Morrowind, I would have killed for a fast travel system in that game.

In Skyrim it is more essential then it is in Oblivion due to mountains and due to the radiant quests giving you things quite along ways away not to mention high horthar...

So with that said I don't see it as cheating, you have to visit the place first which is a plus over Oblivion (of course carriage ride makes such concept useless)
I do not use it regularly though I use it now and then again when I have to travel across the map.

Just wondering, if anyones picked up some interesting quests or things not marked on the map when ur just out exploring? i've came across random people walking the road and a few dead bodys that i would never have found if i didnt explore a little bit.

I do not use fast travel at all. There is SOOO much in Skyrim that to fast travel through it is really cheating yourself of everything the game has to offer. There is much more to the game than merely completing the next objective so that you can move onto the next quest. The only acceptable form of fast travel in my humble opinion is the use of the carriages. And even those I use very very sparingly.

Holy jesus. Can't believe how many people use fast travel.

I never fast travel, because I feel dirty afterwards if I do. Like having six with your best friend's girl. Odd, you say?

To people who say they fast travel to finish a quest: do you have to finish the quest right then and there? I wasn't aware there was a time limit on quests... What's the rush?

Try playing without fast traveling just for a couple days. See how much it improves immersion and makes you pay more attention to your resources (and extends the life of the game because it takes you more time to get through it).

No it's not cheating. And remember that you cannot fast travel to a location you have not found. It's just convenient and stops a lot of game hours being wasted from having to trudge back and forth over the same ground time and time again.

It's not cheating, and I do use it sometimes. It does make it very likely that you'll miss something, though. Example: yesterday I found a dead bandit & his obedient horse standing forlornly by his corpse. You can use the horse, it's free, but it may try and walk back to its old owner.
