Do not let the etymology override the taxonomy.

Amphibians do not have scales and they do not produce shelled eggs nor produce live young, all of which are traits of argonians. EDIT: Or have mammary glands as is suggested by 4/5 games so far in the series.

Argonians do not match perfectly any specific biological category on Earth, because they are not Earth creatures.

Scales are a defining factor of reptiles and I'm fairly certain that Argonians are warmblooded creatures, I mean, how else could they survive in other provinces than Black Marsh? They are just as physically active as other races (if not more), they don't have to sunbathe to get their temperature up and they eat about the same amount of food (and are omnivorous). Coldbloods are largely physically inactive relative to their warmblooded animal brethren. The female argonians have briasts so they clearly briastfeed after the egg hatches, much like the platypus in our world. I agree with you that Argonians do have alot of amphibian-like traits, but saying that Argonians are either reptile or amphibian is incorrect. And yes, saying that a hyena is a dog and a dolphin is a fish is incorrect, but we are dealing with a creature that does not exist and comparing them to biology is like comparing magic to physics 'n' chemistry.

So really, Argonians must be reptiphibianhumanatypuses! :wacko:

They slightly look like Jurrasic Park Velociraptors, not real ones.

For those who mistake JP velociraptors for actual velociraptors. They were changed for dramatic effect. Though larger raptors did exist, they were called utah raptors, velociraptors were small compared to the other raptor-like dinosaurs.

One thing of note is that argonian's eyes face forward and their face isn't anywhere near as long. They don't look like velociraptors or lizards really, they look like argonians.

I remember a thread like this a long time ago. It seems like Argonians are just reptiles with gills. As far as velociraptors or lizards, I guess it all depends on the breed of lizard. But I would say they look more like a lizard.

correct argonian are mythology how ever i never noticed them as having reptile scales and saw them as cross between salamander , fish and human due to there water breathing ability and resistance to poisons perhaps we should put them in the biological category of the rare monotremes instead then ! either way we dont want argonians tobe negatively dragged into the attention & propaganda of NWO reptile dooms day race of 2012 conspirator hokerrs do we lol

I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for this, but...

Why the hell are Argonians so popular? I don't understand why they have such an enormous fan following, same with Khajiit. And before you call me a beast hater or what have you, know that I don't dislike the beast races, I just don't get why they are so universially praised.

They do look like something out of Jurasic Park.

I'm not sure what it is about argonians that i like so much. My first Tes game was morrowind and i played an argonian and they have been my favorite race since. I like their uniqueness i guess and i just think they are cool.

Probably more a dinosaur I suppose - they're all Lizards of one form or other
