Do you think Skyrim lived up to the hype?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:53 pm

So yeah, it has been out almost a month now, and i think it is even better than what all the hype pointed it out to be.

What do you guys think and why?

EDIT: Where's my poll? I thought i put one in :(

No , too much PR talk and miss-interpretations.I don't see half the stuff they've promised and most of the stuff that made it is quite disappointing.

Doesn't live up to the hype. This doesn't mean it's a bad game however.

Just curious, what made you say it didn't? NOTE: this isn't about bugs and stuff, it's about the game and content and all. If you understand what i'm saying :)

No. A shame but Skyrim is still a wonderful game.

The main issue for me right now as a PC customer is the knoweldge they made no effort whatsoever to ensure this game runs properly (as in cpu bound, even leaving the console controller toggled in options by default etc) on PC's but sold it like it was some kind of specialist port. That was cynical!

I never so much as read a single thing about Skyrim, first I ever knew about it was through the ad. I was generally disappointed with Oblivion but bought Skyrim anyway, and it is indeed much better IMO.

Not for me. And one reason was all the completely untrue or exaggerated statements about gameplay, AI etc..

Yeah that svcks. Though i'm a PS3 gamer, i still feel you, because it is kinda crappy PC port (control-wise mostly)

Pretty much, yes. But that's probably because of the burning memory of Obilvion's disappointment. There wasn't as much potential for hype as there was when TES4 was about to come out.

It's a fantastic game but once the construction set is released it'll be ever better--we need decent hair for our characters and some companion mods.....oh, and a "Better Bodies" mods, oh and some clothes to go with that better body!

Nope, Oblivion was more fun.

Before some idiot points out the graphics I'm talking about playing the game.

It was what I expected. I never believe hype because hype for every single game ever is always overly optimistic.

I had a few "wow" moments but must admit I was let down. I'm not blaming Bethesda though, I blame my own imagination - and the music!

The Skyrim theme is absolutely epic and I wanted to feel epic. I didn't however, I felt like I was rushed, handheld and and railroaded through a lot of quests.

Perhaps that's the mistake I made in approaching the game.

All in all, it's a great start of things to come, I really look forward to to TES VI. I just hope it lives up to its musical score ;-)

Yeah, i think attributes were nice too, but oh my god, acrobatics *facepalm* :D. But yeah, they were nice, though i think perks act slightly the same way :)

Oblivion was disappointing. I started playing it in 2007 if i recall, and it svcked. Skyrim is MUCH better, i think.

Not at all. To be fair. Bethesda did an incredible job of over-hyping everyone. That was their goal. But they did not fulfill many of the things they alluded to and the Lore in the game is incomplete. The lore from the Novels and even how the Oblivion Crisis affected Skyrim is not even in game! We get little idea of what is going on around us and it utterly fails to make me give a crap about saving the world. Still have not beaten the main quest. This game is missing many features and the ones delivered are lack luster. Remember the economy system? HA! What a joke! Marriage? LMFAO!

Still they made one thing right. The world feels amazing. That was their biggest achievement imo.

No.

Skyrim is extremely buggy, and once you get past the bugs you have a shallow RPG with almost zero character development and monotonous questing.
