Do you think Skyrim lived up to the hype #2

No. It's a good game, but that "ultimate open-ended fantasy RPG" thing fell flat on its face.

do you really think that would have even been a big part of the game, even if it was in the game all that would happen is you burn down the mill and the price of arrows goes up a few coins, its not that big of a deal

Apologize for it all you want. The proclamation that there was going to be a living economy was a part of the hype, and was not part of the final version of the game.

Now, does that mean that Skyrim is a bad game? Most certainly not.

So yeah, do you think it did and why?

I do, and i'm so proud they won the best RPG, the Best Studio AND the GotY awards!

So share your opinions!

Hype is all about expectations. For me, and my experience with Morrowind and Oblivion (wich i am sure many of us have here), it matched those expectations perfectly and even added some extra's i did not know about. Then again, i did watch a few movies about Skyrim online, but never took part in any discussions (here or otherwise) untill the game was released. I popped the disc in when i got it. Made myself a coffee and had a good time. Still playing 160 hours later (2nd character) and still enjoying it alot. So yeah, it did match my hype about the game.

the commercials showed an overdramatic action game.

I got a rich world full of an excess of content and story.
It exceeded the hype.

The game would be amazing if they would just fix it, especially for us PS3 players. Instead they are releasing patches on fixing the backwards flying dragon while they have customers who can't even play their game. I'm slightly disappointed.

This. I agree as a PS3 gamer. No matter how good the game is, it still is REALLY broken on PS3. Bethesda should fix it so i could play 24/7 :D

Heck no.

I'm just disappointed it got worse as a game. Just the small things.
Random perk limitation added for no reason
Pause menu, not able to hot key anything useful
Story is pretty crap and the atmosphere is very bland

Agreed I can't really tell you if it lived up to the expectations because I can't do a whole lot do to the horrid lag problem.

I have enjoyed every minute of Skyrim so far, other than a few frustrating moments where i got my ass handed to me a few times. I am not used to getting my ass kicked in a video game, it is a new sensation, one the verdict is till out on.

WHEW

Rationality here, Ego has just left the room and will be back so i have to be brief.

Ego is a whiner, it wants to walk through town and point at something and it dies, wants to go to the point on the map and have the item, or person surrender with out a fight. It wants to have the best gear and the most power at level 1. It wants all locations ont the map marked from the begining. I think the game is an enjoyable experience and seeing Ego get its ass kicked is quite a rewarding experience. Frankly Ego is a jerk and i do not like playing with Eg..........
