Do you think skyrim style sprintingstamina should be added?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:19 am

Personally, I'd say it would greatly improve any first person game, but especially Fallout. I found myself constantly readjusting between games

when I'd switch between games and lamenting that my character could only manage a light jog even when under attack. Another aspect was

the immersion that the stamina system gave, your character panting for breath as they fled or tried a power attack would be just as helpful to

immersion as minor texture and graphics tweeks would often have your standing dumb in awe of the environment. Finally, I tend to think the

sprint and stamina mechanics would greatly improve the viability of melee centered characters.

There's my view, do you think it would be a waste?

"Aaarrrgghhhhh a deathclaw!!!" *casually jogs away* *dies*

In answer to the OP, sprinting: Yes.

personally I wasn't a fan of it and it doesn't really make sense to add a stamina bar aside from the AP bar.

Tempted to say yes, as that extra burst of speed would be useful, but it does need to fit in with the games skill/SPECIAL setup.

I'd have to say mirglof makes a good point of a second bar, but I'd say just use the AP bar as stamina. Makes sense to me that you couldn't pull off as many precision shots after running around a while.

It would even then have the option of making overencumbered players doubly penalized as in addition to being reduced to a near crawl, it could radically reduce your AP bar making your sprint a bare shuffle

of a couple steps and you'd have barely a shot in vats before you'd be exhausted.

I'd like to see a sprinting feature as it simply feels right in play. As to whether it was endurance based or simply used AP ... I'm indifferent.

I will say that it would be interesting to me if having a higher agility skill allowed you to run a bit faster

I'd rather it was just derived from your characterbuild distance/time based on endurance (let's say 1.25 seconds per point before encumbarance effects) and speed based on agility or strength (or derived from both). No Skyrim style stamina bar, the PC simply sprints for as long as he can keep the pace. Perhaps even add a chance to trip over (AGI check) if trying to go too far.

I do think sprinting should travel over from Skyrim. It was very handy to have in FONV with Project Nevada. The merging of the "make that item havok" button with the "pick up/use" button should happen again and be the sprint button once more.

I would prefer to have faster walking and jogging. Jogging should use some AP and have a few perks that help make Jogging more efficient or maybe have energy drinks, food bars that boost the AP and or generation of it.

I believe agility is one of the modifiers to speed already. Maybe agility would determine the max speed available with endurance the measure of how long it could be maintained.

I just remember utilizing several modifiers in FONV using light armor and tunnel runner and such made my crouched speed a hair less than my normal walking speed, so the most

of the needed game mechanics would already seem to be included.

Maybe it's due to playing games like dying light, skyrim and others with similar mechanics, but always drew me in to hear my character panting after a harsh battle as my stamina

rebuilt. That and the audio clues made it hardly necessary to watch my stamina as I moved, so I was always focused on the action.

I would like sprinting to be added. In FO3 and NV, I use a mod that allows short-term sprinting that depletes AP. Since I never use VATS, I might as well use those action points for something.

It makes sense that when a deathclaw is coming at you, you can move a little quicker the the speed at which you can endlessly jog across the wastes.

Yes but it needs to be incorporated with Special, Probably Agility. I also wouldn't mind it for Power Attacks from weapons.

Yeah. Also if we see it in another perspective, in FO2 and FO the player could run.

Agreed let agility determine the length of the sprint. Options and diversity are a good thing when it comes to character creation.

Sprinting and running yes. Can't be bothered with fatigue in games. I'm a slave driver in my baldur's gate games. Go days without resting until I realize my mages don't have any spells memorized

Sprinting would make sense tied to agility and endurance for speed and duration respectively. I'm sure they could also add a perk that extends your sprint range.

There have been so many times where jogging away from certain doom at a medium pace just didn't seem right.

I think it would be awesome.

- Special melee attack while sprinting

- Sliding into cover

- Jump further over gaps

All of these could be perks you need to get too. I think sprinting could add a lot to the game.

Sprinting is pretty much an industry standard right now, ofcourse it will have sprinting.
Maybe it uses AP bar (like all the mods) but the rate of depletion be tied into your Endurance. So it will be affected by both. Agility indicates your total AP (Maybe even your speed) and END for how much you burn off from your action points per second.
God it's good to have attributes, we can actually differentiate between characters unlike Skyrim (I wish).

Yes, sprinting would be good. Some one had the idea in a previous thread about this to make a base time limit (say, 10 secs) and then have perk that would increase the time limit.

Sprinting that uses up AP in the FWE or Project Nevada style that could be modified / improved by your SPECIAL stats or certain perks would be just fine with me. I have my doubts that they'll add something like that but if they do I'll be pleasantly surprised.

In a game where Deathclaws exist. Sprinting is something that should be essential

Also when you look at it, Project Nevada is the most popular Fallout mod and one of the main reasons was because of sprinting.

I do think that the AP and Stamina bar should be separated though.

My thoughts exactly. There should be positive/negative modifiers that are associated with sprinting for balance. For example, the player would have reduced accuracy coming out of a sprint and perks could reduce the penalty.
