Do you think Skyrim will be 50 or 60 dollars?

On release day do you think this will be a 50 or 60 dollar game (or over 60, or under 50)? So how much do you think this game will be?

Uhh I dunno where you live but it'll be 60 dollars in the states, just like every other video game.
(59.99 + tax to be exact.)

It's 59.99 to pre order so I'm guessing it will be 59.99 to buy on release day

For the consoles it'll be 60 dollars

For PC it'll either be 50-60 dollars, I'm leaning on the 60 for PC.

New Vegas was 50. So I'm hoping Skyrim will be 50. 60 Dollars is too much for a video game. Every video was not 60 until a couple of years ago before that charging 50 for a game was pushing it.

It's 60. But I have no problem paying an extra 10 bucks for Bethesda's quality games.

If I get it, It will likely be over 60 as I will likely get the collector's edition ( unless they lack good stuff in it).

60$ for console, 50$ for pc, of course I wouldn't really mind paying 60$ for this game but it's one of the few exceptions.

Thats how they make the extra buck. They know 60 is pushing it, BUT, since we are so "loyal" and will but it anyway...they charge more and in a few years, it'll be so common nobody will question the price.

Gotta love capitalism.

What you all complaining about? If you live in Australia, the game is going to be $99.00 dollars, like all other games. :(

*Phew* that's my troll post for the day. Good to vent some steam. :D

Speaking of Steam, it get's worse because Steam is region locked -- so even though it's an American based thingy, us Aussies still have to pay an Australian rate of -- wait for it, $99 (ro 70 if you're lucky) But I can't be bothered ordering from overseas anyway, so I'll just have to svck it up and buy the thing.

(And the first person that mentions piracy will get instantly reported and incessantly flamed. That is not how you reward the good hard work of the gamesas team. And I'm not doing any funny, dodgy, hacker-like tunnels and proxy/doxy/moxy/mixymitoss thingy either just to save a few bucks. Heaps of people have voiced these kinds of 'solutions' in the threads about mature content that results in bans. )

No offence meant to anyone in particular BTW, though the above post may sound a bit knarky. :)

Hopefully it's not the beginning of a trend, but a couple current PC games on Steam (Crysis 2 & Dragon Age 2) are $60.

I agree with you completely, pirates should get a swift kick to the nads in my opinion, as well as a hefty fine/jail time for stealing.

As for price its probably going to be $60 but heres hoping for $50 just because my money's running low, i really really need to get a job

60 Dollars is absurd for a download purchase. Download purchases should always be below a physical price. I hope the Steam version is discounted. They don't have to pay manufacturing or shipping costs so there is no reason for no discount.

Unfortunately we are noobs with no understanding of the market.
But Downloading and stuff has server costs to take in. So think of the servers as your shipping and handling.

Recently, the cost of a new console game has gone up from $49.99 to $59.99, so my vote is sixty bucks. Though for me, probably $69.99 or more; this is the first TES I've had a chance at the CE package since I got into the series, so I'm going for it.

EDIT: As a side note, PC versions of games seem to be cheaper by about ten bucks.

Not really

There will likely be a range of prices considering that there will likely be a collectors edition and that could get upward into the $80 range.

It actually works out to be the same, or even worse for them since Steam takes a large cut of the profits.

This is the most likely, as it would probably make Beth the most money.

EA may be trying to push $60 PC games via download services, but there's a reason not everyone has jumped on board. Sure, we may be willing to pay a bazillion dollars for Skyrim, but we are not representative of most customers. It doesn't matter if TES provides hundreds of hours of content. To joe consumer, it's just another video game in a holiday shopping season packed with big sequels, and having a higher price will likely be a turnoff. Don't underestimate the power of the mindless masses who aren't fans and don't do much research but still spend money.

Average take for retail is 30% (ie, $50 game = $15 profit for Bethesda). Steam is closer to 70% for several reasons. One is no physical product. Two is that the cut for Valve is at most no different than your local Best Buy or Wal-Mart is taking. Third, at least some retailers don't actually manage their games selection, but farm out the merchandising, which adds more people needing a cut.

So from a purely publishers' standpoint, Steam is a very good deal. (Figures cited from memory based on, I think, a discussion of Recettear during the Steam holiday insanity.)
