Do you think SkyRim will have exclusive DLC?

Post » Sat May 01, 2010 7:06 am

God, for once I'd like them to give it to everyone at once. It pisses me off that I can't get Deepscorn Hollow for my Oblivion simply because I play PS3.

I purchase DLCs for games I am currently playing or have interest in resuming play, so if they want my $$ for Skyrim DLCs, they will release them for PC in a timely manner. If they do it before I am done with the game, chances are I will buy it.

If the game is buggy and crashes for me constantly, like FO:NV, I might be done before the first DLC even comes out, like FO:NV.

i think they probably will... but think of it this way.... PC users get all the mods they want..... 360 only gets a few... so it's kind of a way to give 360 users something.... sorry for playstation users lol

if there is money to be made then of course, and i dont blame bethesda one iota for it.
it just means they can spend more money on developing TES V into an awesome game.

Why will Bethesda do it anyway? They loose the sale on the other platforms so the deal to make it exclusive must bring inn more money than the sale.
As the plug-in is mods it’s no problem porting them. Yes you might see some who is released earlier.
On pc where I play the mod will be ported by other anyway so it would only be pure lost income.

"Can" is not automatically equal to "will." They could spend all that "extra" on making TES V the greatest thing since sliced bread, or they could develop "Oblivion II" and give their stockholders a hefty bonus dividend payout. Which way they go remains to be seen.

If it is temporarily exclusive with Microsoft like Dead Money was, I hope they can cut a deal to let both Windows and the 360 have it at the same time. It would really show Microsoft is trying for PC gaming again(I think Obliviion was one of the best seeling PC games when it first came out), somethingthey've admitted they done bad in, but don't seem to care much about since they want to milk the most out of the 360 first.

I would like it to be non-exclusive though, its fairest to all of the customers. Otherwise they should charge less for the system that has to wait for the DLC longer.

I find exclusive DLCs poisonous to the community for fans who are excluded. It very much feels like being told by the coach that "Your not good enough to play today kid", while watching others have fun day after day. Add a bit of salt by getting blogs/tweets/posts/ads about it (if your a Bethesda marketing victim like I am that is), and the joy just goes out of it. I think it would feel better if we had some knowledge or hope of when or how these DLCs would be released to the other platforms in the future, but the silence (to me) was stark and let a bitter taste in my mouth. New Vegas was totally fantastic and I supported the franchise both verbally here/FB/Twitter and financially with 3 copies, but after many weeks of being "excluded", I simply had to give up and move on to the next thing.

I hope this isn't the same with Skyrim, as those are DLCs I would not want to be "excluded" from. :( By the Gods of Skyrim I hope they turn away from this path!

Probably, and while everyone still has their optimism goggles on for FONV DLC for other than XBox, I'm not expecting it. Nothing, at all, points to this being a timed exclusive. Everything points to it being XBox exclusive, period.

No expansions (FO3, FO:NV) just DLC, and that is looking to be XBox exclusive. This trend will probably continue in Skyrim, unfortunately.

Whoopee.

Your probably right on the nose Mythgaard. At least the main games are fantastic, and we won't be "surprised" if the trend continues.

If for one hope that particular business deal doesn't yield enough fruit for them to continue, Bethesda has shown amazing compassion for its community in the past. Now that they are "Big Time", the lure of the wealthy tempts them away.

It may take the magics of Skyrim to save us. :P (or very thick calluses).

They'll probably at least have some kind of timed release agreement with microsoft, they've partnered with them alot in the past and I doubt it will change until microsoft's money stops being so green.

I think that Skyrim could have an exclusive DLC, but I hope that the DLC will come to all platforms. And the DLC should be more like Morrowind's Bloodmoon or Oblivion's Shivering Isles, not some 6 hours long fast made "expansion". I didn't enjoyed much of the FO3 or the FO:NV DLC's (even it was an Xbox 360 exclusive). But let's first wait for the actual game...

Do you mean temporarily exclusive? I mean, will you have to wait an extra week or two to get it, or will it never become available to PC/PS3 users.
Well if you look at it from a certain point of view, we Xbox users pay monthly for XBL, so it should have some perks and advantages ( considering as far as hardware/software goes PC and PS3 have us bet by a mile ), but at the same time, waiting simply isn't fun :sadvaultboy: .
So I hope you all get it at the same time. And I wish MS would give us free XBL :banghead: . Sorry that's probably off topic isn't it lol.

The irony is that they just raised the price. I'm about five days away from canceling. My xbox got the E74 error and it's not under warranty. If I can't find a Torx T9 so I can open it up myself then I quit. :gun: :brokencomputer:

Back to the topic though, it probably will. Hopefully it's just delay release instead of exclusive though.

if the ps3 doesnt get all of the same DLC as the 360 and PC... i probably wont even buy this game...

yes, im THAT pissed at them for being swayed so easily with oblivion... i refuse to even buy oblivion for my ps3 despite me having loved the game more than anything.

Why is that? I thought it got everything except for the horse armor?

On topic....sadly Skyrim will probabaly be like all the other games and have exclusive DLC for the 360 and PC.....for awhile. I don't really blame Bethesda though. M$ probabaly pays them huge amounts of money to make it exclusive for awhile. Of course they are going to take it and just delay it for the PS3.

I have both systems and I will get it for the PS3. I do not mind waiting a little while but it is irritating.

If anything with DLC's helps reduce the base cost, I'm OK with it. Mods on a PC are better anyway, and I just want a base engine to mod onto. The existence of DLC's is what makes mods possible. Beth have to make the game extensible in order to have them, so we can build on the same ground.

I don't really care, I won't be buying it. As a rule, DLC is never a good deal. Bethesda pioneered this folks, come on, let's be real.

I hope that they make 2 big Expansions instead of DLCs.

Expansions would probably be on every platform at the same time I think.

Oblivion on the PS3 got Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isle - that's it. None of the other offical-plug in's that was on the PC/360 was made available on the PS3. No, Fighter's stronghold, Orrey, Wizard's Tower, Mehrunes Razor, Vile Lair etc.. Thank god for my PC.

As for the OP topic.. of course Skyrim will have exclusive DLC (probably) for the 360 too. Wouldn't be a Bethesda release if they didn't svck up to the 360 first.

I think that they'll have content left out only to sell it later as DLC. But really, ofc they're gonna have DLC didnt they start it after all?

I'm not the biggest fan of FO3/FONV, but having exclusive dlc for Skyrim (my most anticipated game ever) is just an unsettling thought.

I really hate M$ now, and xbox. They want me to get the crap version just to play dlc.
