Unless they make some colossal mistake with the perk implementation or something, I'm really getting some encouraging vibes off of Todd and the rest of the developers at Bethesda. At last, they've taken heart to the fans of both Morrowind and Oblivion and tried to make a game modern but with as many compromises as possible. The dark, "primeval" artistic direction has to be my favorite yet across the series. You can really tell that they care heavily about Skyrim - it's practically the messiah of the Elder Scrolls to me, the game with the potential to unite the MW/OB fanbases together and finally give an RPG experience that has just as much freedom in the actual world as there is in your own character's development and gameplay choices.
For reference, I loved Morrowind's world the most and Daggerfall's freedom the most. I often fluctuate between which is my favorite TES game, but they're both up there at a near-untouchable tier. With the Radiant Story system and what is looking to be a substantial increase in weapons, armor, and quests, I'm hoping Skyrim will make it up there as well. I'm willing to say that TES V will, at the very least, be on equal footing with Morrowind to the average forum fanatic. Perhaps higher, perhaps a notch lower. But if we overlook the admitted nostalgia factor with DF/MW, I think this game has a very good chance at becoming the best.
